One way car hire

Long shot - Anyone know of car hire firms who DO NOT charge a drop-off charge for one way car hire? My daughter is arriving in Jan with a large "load" and needs a one way car hire

It is outrageously expensive. I tried to get one way car hire when we had the ash cloud last year and I had to get back from Portugal to France. Even from Spain to France for 2 days they were charging in excess of £1500. Just one of those things I think.

I rented a car from Porto to Faro one way last week it was £22 for the day that was with www.holidayautos.co.uk,try them.

oh - I misunderstood. I thought you meant coming from the UK. If it is just within Portugal, then it doesn't make much difference.

One way car hire is 'usually' provided by the major companies (Avis, Hertz, Europcar etc) but it carries a premium. Similarly, their minimum hire period is 3 days and any departure (shorter period) from that can be expensive. Make sure you read their Terms and Conditions before driving away.

After much research and taking into account "full insurance" and the provision of an infant seat with the car (or bringing it with her - £10 on Ryanair each way), it seems a 5 day rent works out the cheapest from a company who include the infant seat for free + getting the "full" insurance add-on. It works out at less than £10/day.

Resorthoppa would be £25 (with discount) and the seat £20, so its a no brainer really
