Shhh! 2 Great Restaurants in Ferragudo

Post by tricky »

We had a lovely time in CVO last week, made all the better by
'discovering' two restaurants we hadnt been to before.

One was Fim Do Mondo, that is situated up a side street on the right of the main road as it heads to Portimao. This restaurant opened in July and seems to be doing a roaring trade.
Portuguese style english, steaks, fish, lovely cataplanas and delicious deserts. Its owned by a lady called Jo who apparently used to run a bar in ferragudo and her portuguese ex-farmer husband. on our second visit (in five days) we had superb filet steaks. They also make their own grappa which is lethal. Very reasonably priced

on the same street as Fim Do Mundo but on the corner is a Portuguese restaurant.
Lovely fish and fantastic steaks. It doesnt seem to have a name and you have to que up.
It was very busy even in October. again very reasonable.

In both restaurants we seemed to be paying around 30 euros for a covert, bottle of wine and main course. It reminded us of how prices used to be in Carvoeiro.

Together with King of Ribs and Ferragood restaurants in Ferragudo, and easy parking,
its much more convenient for us and food quality in all restaurants is excellent.

p.s all prices were for two

Which main road are you talking about - the one from the 125 past Barlavento hospital or the one past Estombar and Parchal i.e. near the old bridge and le Clerc supermarket?
It doesn't seem that cheap e.g. Fatacil and Ribero in Lagoa charging €7.50 for couvert, soup, main, dessert, coffee and drinks.
It is still nice to hear of new places though and interesting to know about Jo's new venture after the 'Shack' and the 'Three Monkeys' in Ferragudo.

I mean the road that if you to Ferragudo from Canieros direction, down the hill turn left towards the square and then over the bridge. the path behind the road you would turn left on to go to Ferragudo (its more or less facing the square)
I thought for a good night out at decent restaurants they were both very reasonable and the quality of both was much better for the price than anything I have been to in Carvoeiro town.
(not tried the Fatacil, yet, keep meaning too)

Fatacil is a bit of a "canteen" isn't it? I go often for lunch but don't think you would choose it for a dinner?

instead of Fatacil try "Barqua Velha" across the street, I think it's $7.50 incl. wine and dessert. Several selections daily and very good food.

We have been to the fatacil at night and upstairs is a full service restaraunt, excellent value with very cheap Lagoa wines.
