Because it's favoured by the bleached blonde, faked tanned, mini skirted, stilletoed heeled, girls that are assoiciated with that county, who discovered it on there Ibiza hol's. They think it's very 'sofistica'ed'.

Okay, thanks for the clarification, I'll let my wife and children know your opinion of them then, or better still, maybe you should come and meet them so you can tell them direct, I reckon you'll find them a damn sight more sophisticated than you, with no bleached blonde hair, fake tan, mini skirts or stilletoed heels in sight. Bring yourself up to date and stop living in the past, you twat! And that's not Essex speak, thats a well used Northern expression.

Will also pass on the message to my mother and sister. Blue, head to Karlos Bar in Praia da Rocha and see how many of the Sangria drinkers gathered round bowls of peanuts fit your description (clue: none)

 OMG! Obviously hit a nerve. I'm quite happy to explain why it has the Essex punch nickname to anyone face to face, why wouldn't I? Bentley Continentals are also getting called 'Chav-mobiles' because of the number of footballers buying them, doesn't mean that everyone who's lucky enough to own one is a chav. Lighten up, why so sensitive? I'm sure your wives, girlfriends, daughters & any other female of your acquaintance who enjoys the odd jug of sangria are perfectly charming.

well I'm a Welsh Chav then as Gary and I make a mean Sangria, which most of those who have tasted in have thoroughly enjoyed so not really sure why it's associated with Essex! :D

Sangreeaah, as consumed by many Brits from all over the UK is but a poor imitaion of the real thing.

Its just a way for bars.restaurants to get us to use up their cheapest poorest quality wines, dubious sprits , loads of lemonade and rotting fruit at a riduculous price with a huge profit margin.

Give me a PIMMS anyday.

Only that I don't see why you have to take this personally if you or people you know like the evil brew then drink it & enjoy. I like the occasional Guiness, doesn't make me Irish  .

I had 3 Capris in the 70's- 1 white , one silver and one (my favourite) pink with a black bonnet and a load of spot lights- broke my heart when I had to sell it to pay for a new 3 piece suite that we bought after miscalculating the budget   All 3 litre models with a couple of breeze blocks in the boot to stop the sliding about
Great times :D :D
