Sushi
Sushi
I just stumbled across a new Sushi restaurant in Algarve shopping, down by the Italian restaurant, turn right past McDonalds & keep going
€13 for all you can eat, sushi, sashimi, teppanyaki & some chinesey type food
0r €7 to take away 15 pieces of sushi
or €10 to take away 15 pieces of sushi & 15 pieces of hot food
we took 2 pots of each for €20 for four of us & it was delicious, highly recommendable

Re: Sushi
Good, I love sushi, the place that sold it before in the food hall was so overpriced it was ridiculous, no wonder they only lasted 5 minutes.
The chinese concession sells sushi too, they do a 'get as much on your plate as you can' buffet for €6.50. Don't know what their sushi's like though.

Fantastic, we will be there in November doing our usual quick shop and a gad around so will make a point of checking that out, especially take-out, that saves me cooking.

Gaynor,
sorry, didn't get the name but either go in the big doors to the food hall by the cinema & turn right past McDonald's and it's in the next hall in the right hand corner or come in by the entrance to all the mobile telephone shops, pass Wortens and there's a single escalator that goes up on the right, up there, through the glass doors & it's on the right
nice sushi, good value

Love Apolonia! Didn't realize that they have a sushi chef. Hope he is still there in February.blue wrote:Went there today & it's called HAPPY FAMILY or similar. Very nice, but the sushi wasn't as good as the sushi the Japonese chef makes at Apolonia.
Re: Sushi
Sushi Yama in Almancil is the best sushi I have found in the Algarve so far. (I'll happily drive halfway across the Algarve for sushi
)
Head towards the Kartódromo intersection off the main Almancil road, turn in there and drive about 500mts and you will find it on the left, just before the petrol station. http://www.sushiyama.pt/index_EN.html

Re: Sushi
It's their chefs that make the sushi for Apolonia.
We actually prefer the Japonese restaurant in Albufeira & they have a teppanyaki(?) table. Sushi Yama make great sushi but we feel the rest of their menu lets them down.

Re: Sushi
we went to the Algarve shopping sushi restaurant for our son's birthday last night,
they've reduced the all you can eat menu to €9.95 per person,
we had a lot of sushi to start, some chinesey/ thai hot food to follow, then some various chicken, meat & prawn teppanyaki which they cook for you
all incredible value;
they say they pull the punters in on Friday Saturday and Sunday, I hope they do cos the numbers in last night won't keep them going very long, a shame

Re: Sushi
We went there yesterday and were most disappointed. The sushi rice was overcooked and heavy although a reasonable range of varieties. The hot dishes were luke-warm (staphilococci hatchery ?) and everything overcooked except (ironically enough considering the sushi) the rice which was a minute short of raw.
The grilled food was going well until the chef melted garlic butter and poured it over everything and then continued grilling until everything was again overcooked - result a greasy mush that required Carol to rapidly get the 'Rennies' from her handbag
The desserts were jelly in disposable containers and fruit - no ice-cream.
Not a patch on the similar places in Portimao or the excellent one in Tavira Shopping Centre.
Next time in Algarve Shopping I will stick to the superior cuisine at McDonalds
