It has to be weather

Post by maghar »

I am bringing my immediate famiy to Carvoeiro second week in October. One family member is just 4 months old, this has made us wonder will it be very warm. I have been quite a few times in April, May, July, August and September but never in October. Can anyone give me what would probably be an educated guess. The rest of us (6) others maybe not be so bothered, but this younger member has just found out how much he likes swimming. Thanks - just cannot wait to be there

You'll need pool heating to swim in October.
Daytime temperatures fine, but can be chilly in the evenings.

Or go to the public baths at Lagoa. You need to wear caps in the pool and flipflops on the poolside.

you can buy the thin neoprene wet suit "shorties" very cheaply but Im not sure you can get them that small. My grandchildren use them all the time from end Sept, and we do have solar heating for the pool.

Any time after September can be unpredictable. Rain is the biggest problem but when the sun comes out it can get quite warm. Certainly ok for sitting out in shorts and t-shirts. There's a popular spot on the beach that is sheltered by the wall and people sunbathe there all year. I've swum in the sea in late October and it was ok(ish).

Very brave. I will keep my fingers crossed. Just love the place there has not been a year when we have not been for a visit since 2000. Nearly all the family have been dragged there and are now in love too. Thanks for advice! Maggs

We don't heat our pool until the end of October & the sea is often warmer in October than any other time of year. You definitely need a sweater or throw for when the sun goes down but the days are usually lovely.

I should think you're more likely to need a relax after the family fun. :D
Most airlines will charge admin' for a date change plus any difference in flight price.

Too true so have now changed to after the family have gone back. Wish someone had stayed at Cassa Joanna, it is just nice to have some tips.
The grey skies here are just making me count down the days. Would like to also compliment this forum an excellent way of communicating.
Thanks to all

We have not stayed at Casa Joanna but have stayed at a couple on VDM who have the same layout and they are really
nice. Nice location for beaches, shops, restaurants etc.
We will be there in October so we are also hoping for decent weather.
Enjoy your holiday.

Oh dear well surely it will stop by next Wednesday??? The weather forecasts seem to be so contradictory what is the best one to trust.
I hope it is not cold too!
