Great builder for small projects

Been using a great guy for some small building projects around the place. Especially good at bathrooms and tiling although he's done some roof repairs. Dimi - dunno what his last name is! I've used him initailly to re-tile my bathroom. He's honest, trustworthy and does a bloom'in good job because of that he's done aload more work for me.

I think you are attempting to 'push water uphill' promoting any service on here my friend - given the experience some have have had to endure through so-called 'friendly association' in the not too distant past. Your short history and choice of name will not be too helpful to your 'friend' either.

That's something we may regret - but look at it this way - Winky and Dimi would make even the most naive 'customer' stop and think.

I have my suspicions - some of the other cynics on here will undoubtedly let you have their opinions

I have been on here for years and have recommended my 'friend' for several small building
projects. No-one has been let down yet. but I too would be suspicious of new posters

At the risk of patronising you (it's not intentional) but you have been around on this Forum for some time (since 2003) and I think it's safe to say that someone would trust your recommendation a great deal more than somebody who has not posted frequently on here.

You will not need to be reminded of the Mazza debacle that started out by a person advertising their business on here. As a result of subscribers placing their trust in a fellow subscriber's offer of services and entering into a business relationship due to the 'inference' that because it comes from the Forum - it must be endorsed by the forum's management and must be alright. In that case it was anything but.

It is likely that Winky and his handy-man Dimi are perfectly respectable and trustworthy people in much the same way as you Tricky and your friend are. Unfortunately, there is a lot of suspicion surrounding any new name that appears on here offering a service that impacts on our property.

I use this site regularly to get introductions to services that I need and have never been let down by any of the recommendation/introductions offered to me - thus far. In fact I have benefitted enormously from a lot of guidance I have received. I am very careful to deal with the people making the offers in an arm's length way and make sure I carry out my due diligence in considerable detail. Others have not been so fortunate and have lost a lot of money as a result.

Rightly or wrongly, I feel (and everybody else should) I have a duty to question any offer from a 'new' or infrequent poster offering a property related service - more especially if that service is aimed at an absentee client. Inevitably, I will sometimes question a perfectly legitimate and meaningful offer - better that than leave the door open for another dishonest conniving thief to slip through
