Christmas in Carvoeiro

Post by Sally »

I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to advise me of what Carvoeiro will be like around the Christmas break. I visit every September and am tempted to return 27th Dec for one week, but wondered where is open restaurant and bar wise, and what there is to do NYE. I know the weather will not be summer temps but I'm sure its better than rainy England - what has the weather been like in past years in Dec? Only been back a week and missing it already...!

Thanks for the link, I did try to search for previous posts but could not find anything! It's as I thought weather wise - in any case better than the UK! Does anyone have any recommendations for NYE and places to book?

Hi Sally,
I have spent the last 6 six years in CVO for Hogmanay ( NY for the English) and now also come out for Christmas. Have no hesitation about spending Christmas or NY in CVO as although there are fewer bars/restaurants open , there are enough open to cater for those who are there.

Weather wise it is a lottery, have spent Christmas Day on the beach some years and others sheltering from torrential rain!

Therefore a hired car is a must , if the weather is iffy , head off to Monchique, Silves, Alvor, Portimao, Lagos , Sagres, Capo S Vincent etc, once you start to tour about , you look forward to poor weather as the excuse to tour about!

Ciao ciao,

Two years ago, everyone was eating their xmas pud outside. Last year it chucked it down.
