The people most guilty of parking dangerously are the Portuguese usually, they'll just stop anywhere. If it stops idiotic parking & people parking on disabled bays then I'm all for it.

The point is is that you are condemning cars that come into CVO and you don't buy the argument that cars bring in business. When you visit CVO you visit restaurants(you have reviewed them) so your car has brought in business into the area which is a great thing! Garage or no garage you are contributing to traffic into the area!

If the main area of CVO town was made car-free and people were asked to walk into the area and up and down the hill then businesses would dramatically suffer.

Whether people love or hate cars, they bring business into the area. Cars can be a blessing or dangerous killing machines.

I just cannot comprehend your argument that it does not bring in business! Sorry!

James, I'm talking about the corner up to my apartment which has a bend, yellow lines to prevent parking but they still insist on doing this. I don’t condemn cars and am a car owner and once a motorbike owner, but parking in disabled parking bays, on bends and blocking the way for disabled persons (like my parents) that has to be addressed surely? I pay my local council bills in CVO and contribute to the area as much as possible so have a right to put my observation over. Again, what is you beef with my point of view here?

There have been so many planning decisions by local authorities in England and Wales where certain town have banned traffic or made it one way and businesses have bitterly complained about loss of custom.

So I waiting to see how you come to the ratio decidendi that cars don't bring business into an area!

Cars bring in money. The lesser the cars the lesser the money.It is simple economics. It will drive tourists and business away.

If some cars are causing a severe inconvenience then they should be clamped.

However, if this scheme brings in money then the goal of money will result in a zealous adherence to clamping everything in sight. I have seen it right across London.

We were in Cvo in June and where we stayed we could see the car parking spaces outside the pharmacy, and correct me if I'm wrong there are a couple of spaces there to be used briefly while popping into the pharmacy. However we noticed a posh bright yellow sports car parked in one of them and had been for probably about an hour. Mr policeman himself appeared and had a good look around the car and stood on guard beside it,( he enjoyed a fag or two), he was on his phone and a little while later a tow truck arrived but meanwhile so did the driver of the car and his rather elegant female passenger, meanwhile mr policeman had 2 of his companions join him and blocked the sports car in with their car. Paperwork was filled in after much discussion and the driver handed over money to mr policeman and the passenger rumaged through her purse and she handed money over and then she got out the car and disappeared around to the out road,take it she used the hole in the wall thats round at the bank there. She appeared with notes in her hand and they then were handed over to Mr policeman. More paperwork was done and the sports car owner was handed some paperwork after signing and then allowed to go. He pulled away just behind the tow truck, which had obviously been given the go ahead to leave after he too was given some paperwork. Was very amusing to watch and I bet the sports car will never be seen parking there again but how much money would have been handed over? It looked a lot but my eyesight isnt that good.

That was my wife and she still does park there all the time,theres nowhere else and she can afford it so what the heck!!at the end of the day its only a car...........
