Whats this thing about Cowboy on his "meds"--what does that mean please?
Martin, are you still watching fromyour office ?
As I didnt tumble from bed till 9 (a.m,Imean)this morning I dont really have the right to call anyone lazy. But I do work late hours;thats my excuse anyway.
Have a nice sunny day, Ellie.
P.S. Im wondering what "W J S" stands for ?

I dont think this kind of discussion or comment helps anyone. Particularly other nationalities that live in or visit Carvoeiro regularly!martin wrote:yes its official...this weeks resident say that the portuguese are the laziest lot in europe...and i agree....this afternoon i sat from my office window and watched two workers for 30 minutes while they didnt do a stroke of work.
Great things have come from laziness - u can bet it was not a fitness freak who invented power steering.
Most physical work is 50% mental - I´ll bet those workers were doing the other 50% when nobody was looking.

Face it, if the sun is shining and the skirts are short, worker efficiency drops.I dont think this kind of discussion or comment helps anyone
Portuguese are lazy?
From my understanding of the article in "The Resident"--which I read online here in UK---it was mostly to do with health & excercise undertaken by western Europe and that the survey said -- think it was 88% of Portuguese admitted not taking any excercise, think this was followed by the Belgians/Spanish/Germans(not sure if this is right order)
and UK was about 10th which put us nearer the top--ithink--of people who exercised most--and the Swedish were tops for exercising.
Perhaps I read it wrong-but was it anything to do with actual work?
Being a woman,I cant say about Gambrinus' remark on short skirts(but you definitely sense the men nodding in agreement)but i wholeheartedly agree on lazing in hot sunshine-thats a definite
When working in Algarve I still did (foolishly)my garden job in temps.of 30C at times, instead of leaving it till cooler day and in consequence suffered a bad bout of prickly heat which took a week to get over.So its wise i think, not to over do it in heat and "chill out" whenever poss.Boa noite .Ellie.

Looks like this guest has had a humour bypass - Please see Maddi's comment - ie he spent 30 minutes looking out the window doing nothing! so who was the lazy one - get it?Anonymous wrote:

i hope you didnt mind when I dubbed you "Lady Madeleine" in my medieval story, way back on "local drivers " topic--just some fun--not sure if i got name right though?

I have had to go back and look at "local drivers" to find myself elevated to the status of both beautiful and a lady - considering my contribution to this topic and most of my contributions to the joke forum, the word "lady" is only usually used to describe my gender rather than my personality.
Madeleine was spelt perfectly for me and that is rare - I usually have to spell it for everyone.
I guess I missed my appearance in the first instance as somewhere during the whole "local drivers" experience I lost the will to live and started only opening it to get rid of my flashing orange thingy - apologies!

Maddi,
I know what you mean (local drivers)--my it did go on, but have to confess i did contribute--thought some of it was funny--you know, Sad Sam and ,who was it ? Local Larry driving round going bonkers !
Then there were the arguments and thats why i did the "Knights of the Road" bit and the Lady Madeleine sounded well . Anyway, youre a good sport and Im glad you didnt mind.
I must confess i havent read the "Joke Board"--Cowboys idea right?
So Il have to have a look. That reminds me,wonder if Cowboys OK,havent noticed him on here recently.
Happy bank hoiday--Ellie.

Indoor sport
No Ellie, I was not thinking of table tennis for a Portuguese indoor sport,
keep guessing.
To answer your question WJS does live in Olean NY along with others,
more of that later.
Do you have the feeling that possibly "lazy Portuguese" will turn into
another "Local Drivers" forum.
I'm sure that webmaster Steen is keeping a wary eye on this.
keep guessing.

hi ms. elly,..i'm fine..thanks for asking,
and yes, you should visit the "joke board"....well, wjs i'm still wondering about "indoor sports"...would "strip chess" count? it's an intelectual game, that is sure start a conversation, not to mention the posabilty of vigerous physical activity at some point.
Portuguese are lazy
Well now,W J S,who lives in Olean with all the others --What others are these,or shouldnt one ask--do they have harems in Olean ?
Could you possibly be like one of our lords here in UK (Marquis of Bath) who has "wifelets" ?
I could only think of table tennis, but it seems Cowboy is coming up with more ideas (for the Portuguese of course !)--of course chess is very interlectual game as he says, and that might mean very slow progress,do'you think? I'd be hopeless--someone tried to teach me the game once;I actually fell asleep --and i dont know pocker either.
I can do snakes & ladders & tiddleywinks--or how about droughts(cant spell it) do you call it "checkers" in the States WJS ?
Is Steen bothered by the indoor games thing---shouldnt think so--only a game after all
Cowboy, whats all this activity afterwards --do you mean going out for a refreshing run/jog?
Nice to see you back anyhow&Ill take a peek at the joke board later.Ellie.
