1st trip to Carvoeiro
Hi i have just booked to stay at monte sarto from the 2nd september to the 9th september flying in with easyjet. Just a couple of questions
1. There are 4 adults and one 6month old baby travelling, which is the best/cheapest way for transfers without car rental? Does the 6 month old baby count if booking a taxi 4 seater?
2. Are easyjet flights prone to cancellation as need to be back by 10th September for work.
3. What are the average prices for a meal, i have looked on the restaurant board but can't really find prices.
Thanks in advance

Hi Robby
Farotransfers.com advertise on this site - you could check that out, I think a child of 6 months needs to have a child seat in the car so a mini bus might be required with luggage etc.
I fly quite regularly with Easy Jet and never had a problem, my daughter is a cabin crew flight checker out of Liverpool and she says cancellations are rare - it can happen there is just no guarantee.
We found an average 2 course meal with a bottle of wine to be around £40 - £50, a couple were a little more.
Have a good trip.

Re: 1st trip to Carvoeiro
are coach transfers any good, the kind of resort hoppa type? If so do you know a good website to book. Thanks
Re: 1st trip to Carvoeiro
You can get an on line quote with this company :-
www.ResortHoppa.com/FaroShuttle
There is another one but I can't recall the name Faro Airport Transfers I think.
Good luck!

Re: 1st trip to Carvoeiro
Is the car hire thing just a reluctance to drive in a foreign country? Driving in Portugal is a joy compared to the UK. I suspect you mean Monte Santo, which you can get to without having to drive through Carvoeiro.

Its just more of the hassle of driving. We have just booked the resorthoppa for £62 return which i thought was very good.Is the monte Sarto nice if anyone has been there before?

Good value if you don't mind slight detours to other resorts like Villamoura or Albufeira. We normally use Easygo (office in CVO) - find them v.reliable and we like the direct to door private taxi - it's cost me 90 euros return for this year - in CVO in less than 2 weeks now.robbymac23 wrote:Its just more of the hassle of driving. Monte Santo looks nice but has been very quiet during the summer.
Its a pity you don't want to drive as one of the highlights of the Algarve are
the beaufiful beaches and coves, many too much of a slog to walk to. but just five or 10 minutes drive. Monto Santo is 5 minutes away from a small beach and a few more minutes into town and the town beach.

We were going for a more relaxed holiday rather than travelling a lot, however if we do get bored we can always get a taxi around. The area looks really nice as does the hotel which I think we got at a good price. Are there any places that are a must see even if a taxi is required.

Re: 1st trip to Carvoeiro
I think there's a bus stop close to you. The bus transport is really good. You can get into Portimao and then, depending on the tide times, get a boat trip up the Arade to Silves, which has a great castle. Providing you are happy walking, then it's not too bad a walk into the town and beach, a lot of people do it. Coming back, it's a bit steeper but then you don't need to resist that sticky bun with your coffee because you know you will work it off.
Re: 1st trip to Carvoeiro
If walking to town from Monte Santo you should be aware that there is a pedestrian gate at the town side of the resort. It is only 10 minutes to town from this gate. So far as MS being quiet is concerned, we were there for two weeks in late July/ early August and it was by far the busiest we have seen it. We are heading back there tomorrow for a week so will be able to confirm if it is still busy.

Re: 1st trip to Carvoeiro
Ok thanks. Out of interest how much did you pay for a week at the hotel? Also are the spa/ massage facilities good? The girlfriend wants to use them!
Re: 1st trip to Carvoeiro
Nil, as we own a house there. Condominium fees make your eyes water though. The facilities are excellent but I don't know anyone who has paid for the spa treatments. The prices reflect the 5 star rating!robbymac23 wrote:Ok thanks. Out of interest how much did you pay for a week at the hotel? Also are the spa/ massage facilities good? You are unlikely to be disappointed with anything there.
Re: 1st trip to Carvoeiro
Several parties using our facilities have booked Monarch Transfers, some have flown with Monarch most have not, Faro to CVO £21 RETURN Per person take your e-mailed confirmation to the transfers desk almost opposite where you come out of baggage re claim they then give you a number 1 to 6 go outside and wait, out of main season 10 to 15 mins high season 30 to 60 mins wait.

Hi
I strongly recommend monte santo resort, have been many times, just ask at reception for spa facilities and they will send someone the next day if you require from vilamoura (ask for daniel) he is the best massuese ever. The rooms are very relaxing and chilled and very reasonably priced. Even though it gets busy you will always get a sunbed around the massive pool. good luck!
