Condolences to his family. I too used to read his posts with great interest. He came over as a very genuine, kind man. RIP.

I am sure we all have had that feeling that you have really "hit it off" with someone without even meeting them. That's how I felt about Mike, a truly generous man. We rented his villa at Easter this year and as it was our first visit to CVO I really, and I mean REALLY, pestered the poor fella. I wanted to know everythng about the villa and CVO. Never once did he not reply either by email or telephone. On the contrary, he offered an excellent insight and was most hospitable - always.
I shall remember Mike as the guy who, in a way, introduced me to Carvoeiro. Also as a humerous and friendly man. To Janet, who I have never met or spoken to, please accept my condolences and take heart in the fact he was obviously a well liked man x

Lamby, I agree with what you say. He would call us on Christmas Day morning to wish us Merry Christmas and to check that all was well. Whenever we had a problem with the villa he'd get onto it straight away and it would be sorted within hours. When we had a lightning strike and the electrics burst into flames near the mains box, his first comment was, "Are you and Sharen OK?"

Very sad news! Condolences to Janet and family - he was much too young to leave us. From all of the comments Mike was a genuinely generous and nice person. We will all miss his insight on here.

I am only relatively new to this forum, off and on. but Mike's name often cropped up in postings and he was very popular.

I hope his family find condolences in the sincere messages of sympathy shown here for a very well-regarded and liked man.

So sorry to read of Mike's death, he always came over as a kind, genuine person in his postings on the forum. Deepest sympathy to his wife, family and friends, may you take some comfort from the fact that many of us on here regarded Mike as one of the best on CVO forum.

Gave me quite a shock hearing this sad news, I have spoken to him in the past but never had the pleasure of meeting him, we had agreed to meet up at some time in the near future, sadly that will not be. Condolences to his family and friends during this sad period.

Pato, Mike had always wanted to meet us, but he holidayed in the summer and we at Christmas. Last June we made an exception, and rented DaveK's townhouse at the same time Mike and Jan were in the village. We met at Metabixo for a drink one afternoon.

After speaking to him on the phone over six years I knew his voice instinctively, and, thanks to a photo in the villa of Mike, Jan and the villa co-owners, I also had a mental image of him. I was very surprised to discover on meeting him that for six years I had been looking at the wrong person in the photo! We had a laugh about that.

Now, thanks to serendipity I have the voice in my head and the correct face in my memory. :)
