Personally we have never had a bad meal here.

Interesting to see Tripadvisor comments:

Interesting. There are at least 4 on the list that I have visited and would not return to. I used to like Elle and Ella but I have not been there some about a year so I can't comment on the current situation.

I take little notice of Tripadvisor comments to be fair. A certain kind of people post stuff on there.

I'd rather go with my own experience and looking at the TA views on CVO restaurants a number of our favourites aren't even on there. To anyone visiting CVO for the 1st time this summer just try the restaurants for yourselves and make your own minds up.

Although my comments on Ele & Ela are documented earlier in this thread, try it for yourselves, make your own minds up. It's NOT bad, in fact we've always enjoyed the food there - i just think it's a bit overpriced for what it is. I think we might make a visit this Sept though, after giving it a miss for the last couple of visits.

Have never eaten there - always looked overpriced and overhyped, and quite honestly the 'plastic enclosure' looks cheap and tacky. I like Oasis, and have often eaten there on my own. Always made welcome, as individual or large party.

Eaten there many times over the years,ok you have to book in the high season as you do at any successfull establishment, have been coming to cvo for 30 years by far the best in town.Trouble is whenever people are succesfull there are plenty of knockers typical english trait.Used to hear the same dross about Julios when it was in vogue.Maybe they should open a macdonalds in the square.

The recent posts have got nothing to do with KNOCKING but simply opinions based on observation or experience.

if there is a problem it is perhaps the hype that some have built up resulting in expectations being higher than reality.
Hopefuly our next meal there will be better but it will certainly not be during the high season because as aothers have commented I want to eat when it suits me not the restaurant.

I have never knocked Julios we have never had a bad meal there and he has always been more than polite as have his staff.
My opinion of E & E was based on our experience there - nothing else.

I think Ele & Elas is a bit like the emperor's new clothes. Lots of people have posted positive things in the past and the restaurant enjoys good trade, perhaps based on that feedback. Then somebody posts feedback that disregards the previous views and suddenly you find there are many sharing the new view but that previously for some reason they had not posted their own negative feedback before. This includes me.

I share the comments that their prices are high for the menu they offer. This is not saying high for the quality as that should be there regardless but high for the ingredients and complexity of dishes. I also do not like the plastic screens. There are other restaurants in other towns that use screens (either plastic or glass) but which manage to create a nice impact rather than a campsite type set up.

Additionally I try to support restaurants that are open all year (or nearly all year) round. Ele & Elas seem aligned too much to the tourist season.

Like any businesses restaurants are human institutions and although you expect to get a good service if you get a member of staff who has been on his/her toes for hours rushing around stressed out then that waiter/ess may not be able to give the polished professional service you expect.

I was in restaurant in Tavira once. I can't remember what it was called, but we named it the Ronald Reagan Restaurant as the owner/waiter was the spitting image of the former US President. The food was excellent, the service was fast but when we asked for a dessert he snapped "No!" He wanted to close at 3 or 4pm or whatever time it was, I wasn't too pleased but I suppose he does have a life to live and wanted to get home to his wife and kids etc.

Have to say I am aghast at the Trip Advisor reviews in CVO restauarants. One contributor seems to delight in her venomous attacks of restaurants without good reason and based on assumptions. It was as equally banal in this forum when someone criticized Colombo's because his mother got stung by a bumble bee 15 years back or so and will never visit it again - unless of course that was a wind up! :D

I have never been to Elle and Elllas but I have heard a lot about Poppy's go I might give that a try when I get over or if!

To be honest I can't exactly pinpoint the location but I have passed it a few times. Maybe somebody here can help? :?:
