Travel to Seville

Could anybody tell me the best way to get to Seville, plus cheap places to stop probably on the out skirts of the city and then travel in on public transport. Thanks in advance to anybody who replies

From Cvo you need to get to the Faro train station. Get the train to St Antonio (or whatever the place is called where the ferry to Spain is). Walk down the road a bit and get on the ferry to Spain which takes about 20 minutes. Then walk around half a mile to the bus station and there is a bus that will take you straight to Seville. It takes at least 1.5 hours onthe bus I would have thought. Allow pretty much a whole day to get from Cvo to Seville on public transport.

At the train station there are a couple of agencies which have the details of all the cheap (and expensive) hotels - they will book you in or just give you a sheet of paper with all the phone numbers. The cheap hotels are in the built up industrial type area from what I could see.

We are planning to go next week and are driving from CVO understand it takes around 2hrs 20mins

There is a EVA Bus going daily to Seville from the Lagoa Station. I believe it goes via Huelva. I don't have the link to EVA handy, perhaps someone else here can oblige.

Here you go.....do the bus option,I did it from Seville to Faro and it was easy peasy and a lovely run that took under 3 hours on a good air conditioned bus......you could get off at Lagoa.

It's an easy drive via the motorway which feeds you right into the city. You really don't need to park in the outskirts as there is on street parking (mixture of pay or free) on the right bank of the river just over from the bull ring.

A word of warning: it can be very hot there and if you are sightseeing you will soon get tired.

Naw, it's the bus the Huns had to take to play there last year.....they brokered a deal of 30euro return from Faro Airport after Lloyds said they couldny afford to hire the bus outright.

And it was 4 million by the way.

We did day trip to Seville from CVO once. Parked in city centre. Lovely city. Left early morning, got back late evening.

We drove to Saville just before the motorway on the Spanish side officially opened. We were on it for about a mile after crossing the bridge into Spain and then we had to use the normal road, through centre of Huelva, etc. It was very frustrating as we continually crossed back and forth over the new motorway on our journey and it was completely usable. Road markings painted, lighting columns erected, sign posts in place, etc. We out found later that the motorway was indeed complete, but was not to be used until the official opening ceremony by some Spanish dignatory a couple of weeks later.
When we went across the border, there was a kiosk for border patrol on the Algarve side (deserted), but I see from Google Street View that there appear to be no kiosks on either side of the bridge now.
A word of warning - we parked in an underground car park below a shopping centre - closing time 6-0 p.m. Drifted back to get the car at 5-25 p.m. Noticed nearby church clock showing 6-25 p.m. - sudden realisation that Spain is one hour ahead! Luckily car park had not yet been locked up. So don't forget to put the hour on as you cross the border.

There was a border patrol on the right hand side as you enter Portugal last August so unless it has been flattened I suggest it IS there.
