Christmas in Carvoeiro

Post by James Faro »

I may be booking a week in CVO at Christmas. Does anybody here know what (a)the weather is like as an average for December (2)how empty/busy the main town would be?

It can't be no way as depressing or as cold as London.

Thanks ;)

One year my car had frost on it in the morning but beautifully sunny. Another year I was sunbathing on my sun deck at 20 degrees or so. Another year, it was cold and did not stop raining. The answer is, who knows.

Town is reasonably busy on Christmas week - we always go to Maximes on Christmas day for our evening meal. Book well in advance.

It was cold last Xmas, frost on the windscreen, so maybe warmer this year. Pretty certain it will be less depressing weather than in the UK though.

Christmas 2009 was NOT cold it rained most of the day ( and month and Jan and Feb ) but it was warm. 18 -22degrees.
After lunch with the assistance of some internal central heating we actually went in the pool. for a very short time but it amused the young ones.
We have palyed golf on boxing day in shorts,23 degrees but when the sun shines during the day it is cool at night.

It chucked it down the on Xmas day 2009. My grandson had a new bike and we went to the covered walkway on the out road, so he could ride it. The little link road between the in and out roads was like a river. I'm sure we had frost on the windscreen some mornings. I suppose it might have been February 2010, that wasn't up to much either.

I am grateful for all the replies here. The reason why I asked is that I heard t does rain terribly in January and sometimes earlier in December.

Then, this piece of Youtube footage of CVO came up showing torrential rain in December 2007!

Rain or no rain at least it is not London! ;)

James - May be best if you used the search facility on the General Forum - there have been many posts on Christmas over the years. :)
