and another misery
Re: Is Carvoeiro Busy
Cliff Richard and the Roundup are a bit like marmite you either like them or cannot stand them at all.
" Sir Clff " !! need I say any more and the Roundup is a blot on the landscape. What is the point of having a doorman as teenagers who have over induldged a bit more than they should just climb in through the open windows.
As for the noise ( Karaoke ) that some times comes out of there. its beyond belief.
Full marks to the bar owners in the small precinct by Mungos who now have entertainment outside. On saturday night it was Ilze who can be relied on to put on a good show ( as well as drowing out the cacophony from across the road ).
This and the music played on tuesdays and thursdays on the small stage opposite Oasis are really helping bring life back to the village at night.
Also dont forget Kat Balu at the Jazz club up at Monte Carvoerio on friday nights.

Kat Blue is amazing. I have seen her a couple of times at Chrissys restaurant in Lagoa but not at the jazz club.

Re: Is Carvoeiro Busy
Having enjoyed two and a half weeks in CVO am back in the UK this morning, the weather is miserable! Yes EMM BBQ is up with a slight vertical tilt,( will post picture on my original thread) Porches hand painted tiles two of the 12 have been reversed so not quite lined up..but thats Portugal love it!
We were in town last saturday and went to Colombos our first visit and were not disappointed.
The entertainment in the Square...we did not really know what the ballon thing that stood there with the piped music was going to do next ? So after half of an hour of inactivity decided to go ( about 10.40pm) and as we drove off past and yes it had all kicked off...no patience !
BoaVista eatery...the poster sized planning application was up in the window as we drove out to the airport yesterday .....no A4 signs nowadays.
Hope rest of the season continues to be good for all in CVO

Agreed. Big Will - top bloke and owner of Round Up.joanne wrote:Big Will is not a Bouncer he owns the roundup and is lovely, always full of good people havin a good time, I also love mungos, he now does have a Bouncer on the door..............
Don't worry about Emm - typical middle class CVO property-owning snob!
Re: Is Carvoeiro Busy
If its snobbish not to like drunks singing out of tune or a bar that looks like it should be on the seafront at southend then I am happy to be called a snob.
At least I now know who the fat bloke in the silly hat is. Is he still trying to sell it.

Re: Is Carvoeiro Busy
EMM - yes he is but the €1.1M price tag is now - make me an offer
Like most people on here - I like Will - I know him well and a nicer guy you couldn't wish to meet. He caters for a market that holiday makers want and enjoy and when they have gone he goes to Brazil. That way he is not forcing unwanted entertainment down the throats of those that do not want it. Unlike British city night life pubs - you never see any trouble or aggravation in or outside the Round UP - it is a well run and organised business where the owner is ever-present and not some brewery run place with a faceless manager under pressure to achieve volume targets and all it entails. It is nothing like a Southend or any similar UK downmarket venue - it is the total opposite.
I go there when we have family and friends visiting and am probably one of those singing out of tune - so what - we only come this way once and enjoy it while it lasts. I invariably regret it the following day.
So EMM - live and let live - the Round Up makes a lot of people very happy - try it - you might enjoy it

Isn't he known as "Big Willy"
Re: Is Carvoeiro Busy
To be fair we have tried it and we look in every time we are in town but it is not for us.
We are not on holiday so our needs for entertainment are different, we do not go to anything like it in the UK so it has no appeal for us when in Portugal. We did suggest it to friends who are on holiday they went there on thursday night, I wont repeat exactly what they said but they did not stay.

Re: Is Carvoeiro Busy
EMM - that's a fair comment - my wife isn't very keen on it but goes with the flow when we have friends staying. Like you we have never frequented these types of place in the UK - but people on holiday lose their inhibitions and having a good time - sometimes - has no rationale.
