Re: FAQ corrrections
Holiday Planner - past dates could be deleted
Walking in the Algarve - Suggest adding the Turismo guide which is available in Turismo shops or to download here http://www.visitalgarve.pt/pressroom.fi ... estres.pdf
Tourist Rate Converter - Delete 2nd half of FAQ - now out of date
Webcams - Contains broken links as one of the main hosting companies went bust
Beaches - All location links are broken - I suggest replacing them with Google map links which would also have the advantage of aerial views
Internet - I suggest splitting between WiFi access and internet terminals. Also add wifi links at lots of post offices and in the food halls in major shopping centres.
Driving in Portugal - I suggest making a clearer statement on the drink/drive limit, i.e. approx half what you can drink in UK & risk of night in the cells if caught.
Add a comment detailing the documents you must carry at all times.
Add a comment that rental cars should not be driven faster than 90 kph.
Add a reference to Insurance4CarHire (& similar) being a good option for regular travellers.
Delete out of date anecdote.
The Algarve - Places to Visit - Add Sitio dos Fontes in Estombar.
Directory of Services - Add Portimao Hospital
Aviation - Flight Confirmations - Worth adding the website Flightstats.com
Activities - Delete Fabrica do Ingles as it's no longer open
Add comment to Fatacil that it is normally the last week in August every year
Add surf schools on the west coast
Shopping - Update comment about the new shopping centre in Portimao as it has been open a few years now
Add the 2nd Portimao Retail Park ( the one with C&As)
Consider adding a comment about the largest shopping complex in Portugal that is currently being built in Portimao
Car Hire - Add another ref to speed limit for rental cars & also Insurance4CarHire
Watersports/Sailing - Add boat charter is available at Lagos marina
Add surf schools
Suggested new FAQs - Music venues by type
Freesat & Sky in the Algarve - the pros & cons, whether you can bring kit from UK, the size of disk, weather probelms, etc.
Provision & installation of satellite services
Snakes, spiders, mosquitos - the ones to watch out for and precautions to take

Re: FAQ corrrections
??? I have driven cars from a variety of rental companies and have never been informed of this from anyone. Surely it's not against the agreement to drive at 120km/h on the motorway? I would be interested in more detail on this one. Thanks.Farol wrote:Driving in PortugalAdd a comment that rental cars should not be driven faster than 90 kph.
Re: FAQ corrrections
Not so much a correction, but I would appreciate a clarification on this one:
I notice the car hire companies offer booster seats, as is normal in the UK, for older children. We are taking our 8 and 9 year-old grandsons with us next month and have ordered booster seats for both. Do booster seats, as supplied by car hire companies, come under the "approved child seat" catogory? This would be a useful piece of information for the FAQ.Children aged 12 and under or less than 1.5m (4 feet 9 inches) are not allowed to travel in a car unless supported in an approved child seat or harness.

Re: FAQ corrrections
Rod
Have seen nothing about driving car hires at max 90 kmph
This may help regards children :-
Driving with children
Children under 12 years old are nto allowed to sit in the front seat (unless they are over 150cm tall), and are required to be fastened in the appropriate style chairs for their age in the back. Baby and booster seats are required by law up to age of 12 and must be used with their fastening system when travelling

Re: FAQ corrrections
The YOR rental agreement states next to one of your signature boxes that the insurance does not cover .......overspeeding:limit 90 km/h. A couple of their cars have also had stickers on the dash saying 90 kph max.rod... wrote:??? I have driven cars from a variety of rental companies and have never been informed of this from anyone. I agree I have never had it pointed out to me but it is there in print so it seems you ignore it at your peril, especially as it is in one the three boxes that you are asked to sign.
Perhaps Steen could confirm or dismiss through his contact with YOR.

Anyone know the locations of the beaches on Goggle Maps? If so, let me know. Something like this (click here) is what I am looking for.

Re: FAQ corrrections
Perhaps this is a throw-back to before the motorway was built. I understand why they would not want their cars to be driven along the EN125 at speeds in excess of 90km/h, due to the many accidents back in the day.Farol wrote:The YOR rental agreement states next to one of your signature boxes that the insurance does not cover .......overspeeding:limit 90 km/h.
