Gazella wine

Post by Graham »

Own up - who has had it all? The good lady can't find it anywhere and is starting to get very stroppy. Does anyone know where it has all gone or any shop with a few bottles left?

Thanks. Graham

€2.99 plus a free bottle of Mateus - what do you do - put it on your chips?

Try Lidl in Portimao - adjacent to the new Portimao shopping centre - which has a much larger stock and slightly cheaper prices than either Parchal or Silves.
From the hospital go through the tunnel, continue straight ahead until you see Continente on your left - at the roundabout take the slip road right just before McDonalds.
Good hunting - as an alternative try 'Jaoa Pires' vinho branco.

How can you become a Carvoeiro master and have a property in the area without being fully acquainted with one of the most popular Vinho Verdes?

Maybe like me they can't stand the majority of vinho verdes, especially the cheap nasty ones - 'orrible!

I like Casal Garcia - we all have our personal tastes. Intermarche sell itplaces and some restaurants. It is cheap, light and refreshing when the weather is hot.
Tescos used to sell it in the UK, but not seen it locally for a long time.

my wife (the oracle) informs me that we often have Casal Garcia - crisp is the way she describes it. Obviously for guests! Personally my taste is Curva or Val da Nora

Ok so we are here and tried our first bottle of Gazela wine (note 1 x l) the lable says crisp with fruity aromas - if you chill it well it definitely is crisp - but fruity aromas? Nah - tastes rather like it been through the gazelle first (note 2 x l)
Very typical of the muck made by Sogrape - mateus - low alcohol, expensive, sparkling and tasteless.

Avelada rules for me!

Funnily enough I found some in duty free at Faro - over 4 euros a bottle  I suppose there are some stupid tourists out there!
