Traffic in Carvoeiro

Post by Jaylay »

Pleased to see that some common sense has been used at last in the village regarding the movement of traffic :D .

The cut through between the in and out road by BPI bank now goes the otherway, so all the traffic coming along the inroad does not have to go around the square.

There is a Coach/bus space outside the hotel to let passengers get out without holding all the traffic up, (this space had previously been for the train to stop) and the train can now pull into a space on the square outside Soares wine shop.

I would also add that this morning I parked up by the church and saw only half a dozen cars there. Why do people insist on driving around the village 3 or 4 times looking for a space when there are so many a 3 or 4 minute walk away, it only needs the driver to be able to walk up and down the hill, if the passengers are unable to do so, (the view is worth the walk) just drop them off (quickly) in the square and tell them to get the cold ice cream or drink ready for the driver! :)

Glad to hear that the traffic flow has been modified. I always park up by the church and walk down past the GNR and I've never had a problem. Have they finished all the roadworks from the church to Algar Seco now?

Yes all finished, one way from Algar Seco to the church, from restaurant hill you can go up either next to Primavera or Cantinho restaurants, the down road is by the school at the top and comes out at restaurant hill just past the taxi rank ( the down road by the beach is only for GNR and residents along that road.)
Today the views were fantastic, calm sea, blue skies and boats of all shapes and sizes out enjoying the weather.

The change in the cut through road by the Post Office nearly caught me out today but I saw the no entry sign just in time. It also I was surprised to see someone driving the wrong way down it the day before! Luckily I was feeling mellow and did not give the traditional blaring horn salute.

The changes look a positive move for once.

.. unless you need to drive from East side to West side.

And I'm sure some wag will ask why anyone would want to do that :D

I need to go across village at least once a day both ways to visit my 85 yr old mum. In reply to the east to west crossing of the village, either go down restaurant hill turn right onto out road and then left onto Solferias hill or through Monte Dourado and onto the out road and then Solferias hill or for those who cannot resist a drive around the village :) drive down restaurant hill turn right at Smilers along the out road to the end of the village then turn left onto the in road drive along until the post office turn right up past Jailhouse or for those who would like a longer journey or more complicated route turn right at the post office then left up the hill then right into Monte Carvoeiro :D

Indeed Jaylay, I do understand that route. I was just questioning how that could be seen as an "improvement"

Will the change to the BPI cut through really save traffic round the square ?

The change to the cut through by BPI is welcome news. I have an apartment near Monte Dorado, and I and many others used this to access Monte Dourado. The change meant that we had to go through the village centre, or if coming from Lagoa turn off at Poco Partido.
The other changes all sound sensible - lets hope they work.

Certainly an improvement BUT be carefull the GNR are out today ticketing cars wrongly parked in disabled and unloading spaces . also those drivers who now think that they can park out side of the CVO sol hotel. Still not permitted.

At long last a bit of common sense has prevailed who on earth thought of changing it in the first place, probaly had'nt got all his or her cups in their cupboard.

NEw signs were going up yesterday. The blue advisories are being replaced with the mandatory round signs. More scope for the local GNR.

Keep quiet about the parking spaces up at the church. We don't want them all filled up! It's the first place I go for every time.

I am fairly certain that if the church had a bar next to it, there would be a lot more drivers prepared to do that.
