Interesting concept and quite popular int he USA and Canada, you soak the planks usually made from Apple, Cedar, Cherry or Hickory wood in water for an hour before BBQíng. They also recommend that adding beer, whiskey or wine to the soaking and to add to the falvour that is probably why Gary wants one hic! Anyway my friend in work who is Canadian has one for me she uses so I have a happy Hubby :D

Hi

You can buy foil trays of various wood chips which you soak and then put in the barbie to smoke your food from Leroy Merlin in Guia

See http://64.186.164.244/bob/products/wood_chips.html

Hi Gaynor

I use the trays in my gas Weber so if yours has a lid it will do a 1st class job of smoking the food

I'd heard of the bbq chips that are supposed to add flavour to the food but never bbq planks. Zonda's the big bbq shop at Almancil may stock them.
