Ellie's New Book!

Post by tricky »

Arrived today! and the cover is really nice.
I am saving it for our summer in Carvoeiro. So if you see me reading it on Canieros beach, come and say hello

I have to ask Ellie, did you get a conventional publishing deal or one of those arrangements where you pay for publishing and then have to sell the book your self.

A friend who wrote a childrens book was encouraged by one of these " vanity publishers " spent quite a bit of money on artwork only to be asked to pay around another £2000 for a small book run .
They then had to try and sell them. ( I think most went at car boot sales for 50P )

Yes EMM, I did pay to be published......but I made enough from first book (Algarve Shorts) to pay for second one...sold about 200.
Ive been with Mike (publisher) since first book and he has been a good guidance for me.

Im now writing some chidren's stories (set here in the Wolds) and I send them to youngest grandson Jordan (11)....(hes my critic :) )....for his approval :)

Did you know we have an older grandson 'Sancho' (my daughter liked that name) who was 15 on June 2nd......
when he visits I show him the large photo(framed) of King Dom Sancho(we took this while visiting the castle at Silves) and he always gives a secret smile.....hes a lovely boy. We were grandparents in our mid 40s..

Tricks darling, so glad your Portuguese neighbours liked 'Algarve Shorts'
