Train in the Square

What has happened to the ameniable, friendly Portugeuse? Every year for the last five years the highlight of my grandson's holiday has been to ride on the little train which runs from the square. Unfortunately, last year he had to forego his "treat" because of the alterations taking place. This year -today he was taken down to the square by his mum and the train was outside the hotel - wonderful. No - three quarter of an hour after boarding the train it was not so wonderful - tears!! The man running the train refused to do his usual trip as they were the only prospective passengers. He could at least have offered to do a shorter trip just to satisfy the excitement of my little grandson. Mum had to soften the blow by buying an icecream and some lego. Also what a waste of time for them and him being such a patient little sole, sitting waiting for going on an hour. How many people does he need on the train to run it and how long does he expect people to sit waiting?

Yes I have too experienced this, with my son who is too young to understand why we cannot go on the train.
I think it would be helpful if the train company could place a timetable, so we would all know when to be there. You can arrive at the area of where the train parks to find it is not there, but did it leave 5 minutes before or 40 minutes before. I truly believe they would get more custom if they displayed a time table.

Thanks Salsec1 - Glad to hear of another incident. I'm sure there are many more. I agree, it would be a good idea to have a timetable. Who should this be suggested to? Wonder if Steen has any influence?

That's so sad. I've seen the train parked up outsde cvo Sol with the driver giving it a good spring clean. My grandkids really enjoyed their trips.

Its a shame, cos its such a lovely little ride around.
I do know lots hate it cos of the slowness and it gets in the way, but I luv the wally trolley.
A good idea tho re the suggestion of a time table or at least something to get bums on seats more so.

When passing we have often been asked by the driver if we want to take the ride.
Maybe he just waits until he gets a decent load.
Agree a time table would be better.

But at least it stops the cars parking outside of the sol

That train is an opportunity lost - due to the taxi drivers. If it could pick up and set down passengers then it could operate a scheduled service instead of waiting for a trainload before he gets going.

As it operates during the season only it is unlikely to deter too many taxi customers - due to its lack of speed. With a little more foresight and entrepreneurial flair somebody could turn it into something more meaningful.

Look on the bright side! At least CVO does not have those damn bicycle things that have passengers sitting behind them. They are so dangerous especially in London.

Then again I can't see any fit chap peddling up the main town's hill with a full passenger load!
