Depends if you go at high tide or low tide.

Many beaches lost their sand during the winter storms so it has to go somewhere maybe it has come here for the summer.

OK its not the beer but....

You walk down the runway to the beach and now you only have to step down 2 steps to reach sand. It was more than that and there were 2 wooden benchs at the bottom where I used to sit and clean the sand off my feet they have gone (beneath the sand I think). So by my reckoning its a metre higher :? :?

Gary

Ergo the beach is higher :| :|

We've been to several different beach in the last few weeks & they all seem to have changed to some degree or other. The Praia Castelo between Gale & Sao Raphael is getting smaller every year.

OK, slightly different dimensions, but similar pattern to my waistline as the incessant rain stopped me playing tennis during the same period.

Coincidence ?

When we were out and about up and down the Algarve a couple of weeks ago, many of the resorts we visited had bulldozers on the beach pushing sand up above the waterline, presumably because much had been eroded during the winter months.
Another feature in some of the smaller coves backed by cliffs (Benagil, Burgau, Salema, etc.) was lots of medium sized rocks which had been dislodged from the cliff walls by the heavy seas, lying about below the cliffs.
