My son had these in Egypt..and few days later..Arab tried to sell him a 3-legged camel..and he suddenly felt quite ill..wondering 'where' the burgers came from.......

Very interesting this Marmite subject - i hate the stuff because mother used to slap it on toast when i was a kid but my little one loves it. But if he eats it everyday he starts to get cracked sore lips or if some gets on skin near corners of mouth it goes very red- so does that mean he's allergic to something in it? Maybe the mozzies know something we don't know

MARMITE could be the key to a bite-free holiday according to health experts - because, like some of us, mosquitoes hate it.
Public health consultant Dr Martin Schweiger revealed his secret weapon for the launch of a new advice leaflet for travellers. When we eat it our skin gives off an odour undetectable to humans but repulsive to mosquitoes.
Dr Schweiger told a meeting of Co-op members in Leeds: "It's nothing to do with spreading it on the skin. The effect of eating it could be linked to the vitamin B1 thiamine it contains. This theory is supported by the rise of malaria in countries where rice has been dehusked and the thiamine-rich outer coating is discarded."
The vegetarian spread made from brewer's yeast celebrated its centenary in 2002. Early last century scientists found it was a good source of five B vitamins, including B12 which helps prevent anaemia, and folic acid. It was given to soldiers during both World Wars to keep them healthy.
A Marmite spokesman said: "You either love it or hate it and mosquitoes are clearly not in the former category."
One piece of advice from Marmite is only eat it spread THINLY on toast.
However, all travel sites seem to reckon that vitamin B does NOT work - guess we have to decide wheter to trust the Daily Mirror or numerous medical experts.

All this talk of marmite and mosquitoes. I've been coming to cvo for the past 10 years, for the first 7 I've nearly been eaten alive with mos
quitoes, and very bad allergic reaction,its been horrendous
then I got told to take Brewers yeast tablets. Take them a couple of weeks before you go and take them while your there, I've not had a bite since. Also in the newspaper a few weeks back, apparently the SAS use Avon's skin so soft (woodland scent ) as the mossies dont like the smell

All seems very debatable..marmite..brewers yeast..blood type...how about skin-type? Hub..who is darker-skinned..gets eaten alive.Im blonde/fair skinned...and only got one bite the day before I came home a few weeks ago..
Ive tried all sorts of deterrents....rubbing lemons over my skin(sticky business& flies stick to you )
During hot holiday last Sept....I left out a dish of smelly cheese in bedroom...but he still got bitten!
I use lots of lavender water..especially at night (I dont like heavy perfumes)...think this possibly keeps them at bay?
Hey ..youre not pulling our legs are you Jax..SAS using Avon 'woodlands scent' 'skin so soft' ?

Straight up Ellie, the SAS do use Avon ( woodland) skin so soft. It was in the newspaper, apparently its a lot cheaper than normal massie spray, and a lot more effective

Just thought I would let any mozzie atractors like myself. I have just got some Woodland Fresh Skin-so-soft dry oil spray from Avon. This is supposed to be great for keeping the mozzies away. It smells really nice but apparently they hate it. It costs 6.50 euros from Avon. I have an Avon contact here in Carvoeiro so if anyone interested please ring Coral on 282356764 for an order.
