Mosquito nets
Mosquito nets
Good morning y'all. Does anyone know where I could purchase mosquito nets for over the beds please? We have been buying them from Ikea back in the UK but they are quite large and bulky to bring over, so it would make life easier if they could be purchased in Portugal.
Thanks
Ann-Marie

Re: Mosquito nets
If you dont find anywhere in Portugal you could always take a trip into Seville to Ikea and make a day of it and sample some lovely tapas near the bullring

Re: Mosquito nets
We too bought ours in ikea uk, but once out there we found them in Lidl, Lagoa but not sure if they sell them all the time
Re: Mosquito nets
I've been coming to Cvo for 5 years now - at all times of year - and have never used mosquito spray, mosquito nets or been bitten by anything at all. Admittedly, I never have the windows open at night to the bedroom, but sit outside until the early hours without a problem. In Spain, I was bitten all over on every visit. Cvo (for me at least) seems to be mozzie free.

Then you must be one of the lucky ones!fmm wrote: Cvo (for me at least) seems to be mozzie free.
Re: Mosquito nets
We do seem to get bitten im afraid and generally speaking its the children in bed on a night time, even though they are sprayed with repellant etc and the plug ins in the bedroom, you just cant seem to keep the damn mosquitos out, just to open the door to check on the children they're in faster than you know it, and we do keep all the windows closed after 7pm. The mosquito nets seem the only thing to work, so will keep battling on with the excess suitcase weight!
Thanks for all your help and advice though

Re: Mosquito nets
Hi Ann-Marie, I have been battling to remember where we bought ours from over here. Hubbie thinks it was in Conforma at the Guia Retail Park and I am inclined to believe him actually
You can get them in places like Lidl and Aldi but they don't stock them all the time. Other than that I am sure I have also seen them in Makro.
Hope this helps

Re: Mosquito nets
Seriously - whereabouts are you when you are bitten? I am at the top of restaurant hill, and in the evenings probably tend to stay between there and the square - and have not been bitten once, nor have the people i have travelled with!
I do, however, keep doors shut from about 6pm onwards (which is when I tend to start my evenings). Are there certain areas of Cvo which are more prone to Mozzies?

Re: Mosquito nets
We are up the hill by the Koh Samui. Generally speaking the sprays work a treat while we are out on an evening for our meals etc. But it seems to be when we sit out at the villa when we get back. And im not joking when i say that you can see them fighting to get in the door when its opened! If we go inside to get another drink they seem to find their way in! I then feel like im inviting them into the kids bedroom when i go check on them before i go to bed!!!

Re: Mosquito nets
Hi
Do you stay at Quinta Rosa by any chance?
Anyway try John Cowan of Bugbusters (details below). He sells a machine called a Black Hole which it will attract the mozzies away from you or he also has a uv light with an electric high voltage net which attracts and "zapps" them. We sit out most evenings in the summer as we have a covered terrace watching telly and have never been bitten as we have both machines!

Re: Mosquito nets
The little B******** are about with a vengeance, they are also some of the noisiest we have come across as well.
We have one of those solar powered zappers which is quite effective.
