How much should it cost to install a boiler?
How much should it cost to install a boiler?
We already have the boiler. The fee is simply for installation.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Re: How much should it cost to install a boiler?
Does it fit into an existing set up or is some rewiring/pipe amending needed?
Re: How much should it cost to install a boiler?
Existing set up is there. They just have to remove one and put in a similar model. Then, check to see if the radiators etc. are working properly.
Re: How much should it cost to install a boiler?
I am assuming it is gas ?, Is there a " corgi " type registration in Portugal to ensure that it is fitted safely ??
Re: How much should it cost to install a boiler?
Yes, it is gas. We will have the Roca guys confirm it is fitted safely.EMM wrote:I am assuming it is gas ?, Is there a " corgi " type registration in Portugal to ensure that it is fitted safely ??
Re: How much should it cost to install a boiler?
If all the parts are there then it should not cost more than an hour or two of labour plus call out charge. Guestimate: €60-€80
Re: How much should it cost to install a boiler?
heh. The guy told me EUR400 and two days worth of work which didn't make sense to me.
Re: How much should it cost to install a boiler?
The question is really, if it is an easy retrofit. Older boilers have completely different connections and the replacement may imply fitting a whole array of new bits.
Re: How much should it cost to install a boiler?
Incidentally, does the price include a full maintenance of the radiators, ie, valve lubricant, heating fluids, etc?
Re: How much should it cost to install a boiler?
Yes. The boiler in question is very similar to the one that it is replacing. Due to a recent remodel, we had an extra one (from the pool heating system). It was rarely used. It needs to have ta new expansion filter which the Roca guys gave me a quote for.
I only would use the boiler for the radiators in our livingroom so don't find it that necessary until October.
The other option is to install wall mounted AC units for heat, ac and dehumidification.

Re: How much should it cost to install a boiler?
For what it's worth, I would strongly recommend finding alternatives to gas as the overall cost for the gas plus all the certification has become prohibitive these last few years.
Re: How much should it cost to install a boiler?
Thanks G. The rest of the house is on electric underfloor heating, but that is quite pricey too.
I am thinking the ac units might be a better idea.

Re: How much should it cost to install a boiler?
The AC units work well for most of the year, but there will come a time when the yield is significantly reduced as the outside temperatures dip below 5ºC and the compressor cuts out. At that point you will need some form of back up and we have retrofitted a house with the thermostat regulated electric wall heaters, which are working very well (and a lot cheaper than the old gas system).
Re: How much should it cost to install a boiler?
We have friends who dispensed with the aC/heater combination and had stone radiators fitted.
Very efficient, not that cheap and we have yet to find out what their winter electric bill is.
They did have a lovely warm villa though and we are considering one for our dining area for next year.
