Re: Beach facilities
Ruthie,
The beds are a bit crammed in and not particularly comfortable from my own experience - also, not that many of them.
Plenty of shops and restaurant around so no need to worry on that score.

Wow Ruthie. Talk about a new member - you only joined today. Welcome.
If you mean the beach at Carvoeiroa you need not worry. There are many cafes/restaurants close by. Believe me, you will be spoilt for choice.
However, with the greatest respect to CVO beach, venture out. If you want a beach with a lovely beach restaurant go to Benagil or Centianes. Beautifual beaches with great facilities. There are many, many more. Enjoy x

Re: Beach facilities
CVO beach is lovely, won't cost you much for a sun umbrella (around €8 to €10) from one of the local stores, even if you dispose of it after your hols, for sunbathing purposes. Lots of restaurant and bars to chose from a stones throw from the beach even a selection of icecream parlours on the front and in the town. On the beach there is a small hut where you can buy ice pops and cold drinks. Toilets and shower facilities are also available on the beach. Only one thing I must point out, the sea can be pretty boistrous at times on that beach so careful with children.
Our apartment is siutated in the centre of CVO and we have no pool facilities only the use the sea, but it's invigerating.
Most of all you will have a great time with friendly people....

Re: Beach facilities
Hi Ruthie, welcome to the forum.
I don't know if you've been before but if you need directions to the village from Faro airport, take a look HERE where you can download a one-page map.

Re: Beach facilities
Hi. Buses are excellent. Personally I prefer a car. There are so many fantastic beaches I like to have a car so I can get to as many as possible. Obviously depends on how long you are staying. Earlier this year we went to Miranha Beach in the morning and then to Caneiros Beach for lunch and the afternoon "session". You would struggle to do that without a car with towels and other beach accessories.
Re: Beach facilities
we are not hiring a car this time - hope it doesn't restrict us too much
Re: Beach facilities
The sand is very soft - you don't need a sun bed.
Last October I spent 15 minutes watching an enterprising couple sculpting a sun bed out of the sand.
Personally, I would buy one of the straw mats for a couple of euros and chuck it in the bin at the end of the holiday.
Have a great time!

Re: Beach facilities
The village beach does get very busy at times, the point about the waves is well made.
:ast year we watched as many had to quickly move their towels, loungers etc away from the waves and incoming tide.
Hire a car if only for a few days and explore the many bigger beaches in the area.
