Whilst I can understand these suggestions following the endless complaints regarding the square, who's going to pay for all these changes? From what I recall, Lagoa council received no money in this year's public spending budget. A Carvoeiro.com hands-on project?

Here is an idea for you,Why not just look where you are walking instead of expecting motorists to do it for you? Bulldodge - re-read my posts and point out where my selfish attitude is? - apart from saying I like the fact there is no parking in the square (which I am fully enttled to do so) I have acknowledged the difficulties of a solution here.

Ernie ( I a sume that you are a full time resident ) What makes you think that we who are pro the new square do not live or spend a considerable time in Carvoeiro.
None of us have said that it is perfect BUT there are official spaces for the less mobile, who qualify for badges the problem is that other locals and tourists park in them.
From my reading of the petition and other reports , providing additional disabled parking spaces was not mentioned, rather it is the vested interests who want parking back in the square.
The expanded square restaurants, Oasis and all the others who have gained space and additional outside seating won,t agree with you.

In law the onus is on the motorist as in fight between the car and a human the car always wins. You too should keep your eyes open and your speed down.

Having lived in Portugal for the past four years, I read with interest the Posts made on this site and sometimes agree and disagree.
However, I had reason to visit Carvoeiro yesterday for the first time since the renovations and must say I was pleasantly surprised by the fantastic improvements that have been made. Open walkways, no cars and an area at last to enjoy. I have also read about the problems with Business's since the New renovations were put in to place and am afraid I have no sympathy. Carvoeiro is a lovely little village and the developers have managed to revert it back to the old ways, yet bring it in to a modern environment. Money and profit, in my eyes is not of importance, more so, quality of life. Well done to all concerned and I hope that the locals and visitors to our Area will appreciate all that has been done. I look forward to a swift return.

The problem Carvoeiro has for tourists is also its major asset - the hills surrounding the beach. Removing the parking from the square (good idea from my point of view as I walk everywhere) ?

So perhaps it is you who have a problem with anyone who does not agree with you?

Just out of interest how many weeks a year (as opposed to the locals 52) do you spend in Carvoeiro?

You are most welcome to disagree with his opinion, and of course make your case. We are all interested.

Apologies if I am wrong, but I assume you are a business owner, and it makes very good business sense to listen to your customers.

One of the good points of the old system was that traffic had to stop at the square and look for traffic and pedestrians. Now, although one way, cars can just keep going, and as Shanagarry said - it is easy for pedestians to step into the road, particularly if they are following the coloured pathway effect that encourages pedestrians to do just that, and confuses drivers. It looks like the original plan was to pedestrian to whole square area, but then someone decided cars should be allowed and just stuck a lot of bollards in.

"bulldog" take no notice, I'll tell you what though, there are some real wind-up merchants on this forum, sometimes I wonder what interests they've got in their lives, worrying themselves sick about the "village" all day isn't healthy.

Maybe Ernie and Bulldog should come clean and declare an interest, are they involved in any business in carvoeiro?

As a 20 week /year resident of Carvoeiro I have yet to see any evidence of any business loosing out because of the changes rather I see more than a few expanding.

As the mayor suggested time moves on and that busness has to adapt to change,NOT customers adapt to the wishes of business.

I wonder if the real issue may be that the business people in the town can't park outside their premises any more.
