whether it's Carvoeiro or Canby sands, you gonna get drugs, just walk away from it. You will never stop it (well for a while) but I think like any community the GNR know who they are and as long as it is confined they will turn a blind eye to it.
This is a reality I'm afraid.

Gaynor, whilst I agree with you to a certain extent, still think people need to be warned, we are aware it goes on, we live 12 miles from the centre of Manchester, and I am far from a goody two shoes, but the youngsters he was selling to were really drunk, and would hate one of them to be sold something really dodgy, and I think in the Village people get very laid back.

When we were in cvo a few weeks ago, my husband was offered a watch to buy outside what used to be Tess boutique, when he said no, the man then offered him drugs.
Myself and two boys were with him.

I agree with what everyone is saying totally, but I know that it's everywhere on every street corner, they will target the young, the old, the indifferent. I agree that everyone should be warned but this is a fact of life. I live in Holland and the place is swamped with the stuff. As parents we can only warn of the dangers and alert out sons and daughters.

MC - bow your head in shame here - tourists are the target market here for this problem - the dealers will come if there is a market. Gaynor is right by saying walk away and do not buy. If everyone does that, then these people will disappear. However, not everyone will walk away, therefore the authorities need to step in.

I would not 'walk away'. I would take a photo of them and report them to the GNR. What 'shame' is there in taking steps to help stop this? Shame should be burdened upon those that do nothing, hoping it'll go away by itself. If more people took a proactive role in crime prevention/detection we wouldn't have such scum pedalling their wares. It is far easier to turn a blind eye and let them get on with it - that is a shame.

Good luck in taking the photo Michael, I for one would not approach as most drug pushers are part of bigger organisations who can potentially be dangerous. So please think twice about approaching these guys on your own. As I metioned in my last post by all means report them to the GNR and let them try and sort it out. Here in Holland it is monitored, the police know where the drugs are and it is mostly kept to certain areas. Again my guess is the GNR know who these people are and where they trade and tend to keep it localised that is their way. Just keep vigulant and instill the dangours to your children. Most of all enjoy the rest of what CVO has to offer and make your holiday memorable.

Michael - the "shame" bit was encouraging people to get involved, and embarassing them if they don't.

As Gaynor says, drug pushers can be extremely violent - if you can take a picture and get away unnoticed, good luck - but you would be taking a potentially dangerous action.

Report what you see to the GNR if you want to help and leave it to those who are trained or in a position to deal with it. The last thing you need on holiday (or if you live there) is to spend a few days in a hospital with knife wounds or worse. Remember, the drugs trade is lethal in more ways than one!
