Take aways

Post by ceh »

Arriving fairly late on a Sunday in a few weeks time (landing at Faro at 20.45ish) and reckon it will be too late for the supermarkets (have seen the post on the Property Owners topic) or to eat out so any suggestions for takeaways in Porches, Lagoa and anywhere east of cvo gratefully received.

I bet if you rang a few days before, O casorina, at the crossroads at Lagoa. Piri Piri and grill restaurant would do something for you.
or alternatively the chinese in Lagoa (Jade Garden?)
I think you can find both of these on the FAQ's

Could always stop at the food hall in Algarve shopping if you come off the motorway on the way from the airport.

Tricky is that meant to be O Casarao? - the piri piri place across the island at the lagoa junction. Great food there and they stay open quite late. Otherwise try Gran Muralla (think thats slightly wrong name but its something like that) Chinese restaurant half way up restaurant hill on RHS in CVO - always open at 10 pm.

I think Tricky does mean 'O Casarao' Mac....it was always our favourite 'take away' when we lived in Lagoa....it was very reasonably priced too at that time.
We would have piri piri, chips, salad, 3 pieces of almond tart & beers...at that time it came to the equivalent of £7 or thereabouts. I always thought it the best place for piri piri chicken :P

I landed at Faro at 8.30 last week and managed to get home, grab a taxi in to town and have a very nice meal at the Indian by about 9.45pm if that helps!

I think its about 9 and usually the best courses have gone by 8 - its a very good place and very reasonable.

I agree that the foodhall at Shop Algarve is best option. All units likely to be open and all tastes are catered for. Its where we go when we have a flight that arrives late. It takes away all the uncertainty and rush.

Also gives the chance to pick up essentials in the Continent supermarket if you need to.

Sorry but I don't know. Different units close at different times but I would expect at least the large ones (KFC, MacD, Burger King, Chicken piri piri and pasta restaurant) to be open until the cinema closes.
