Well shiver me timbers and ooh-arr-a-Jim Lad, I be just landing ye olde Millennium Falcon in Somerset. How be you, Digger, me hearty! Actually, to be serious for a moment, and to be nice for a change, I just want to say how much I have always loved the West Country accents, and how much I enjoyed The Worzels as a wee nipper. I've only ever drunk Woodpecker cider and Strongbow, which I liked as a teenager, but hate now. I'd love to try some of the real stuff! Give me a smock and a blade of straw and a big foin wench, and I'll happily move there and become a yokel  I've had enough of lving with Chubacca, far too hairy. Give me a fresh-faced, well-made West Country bird any day

The last time i was down in the West Country i tried a cider called 'Crippled Cock'. It was potent

My husband used to live 3 doors away from the Rolling Stones in their early days when they lived in Hampstead, All he remembers is that when he came home from school there was always lots of young girls hanging around the street.

 Maybe Alice in Wonderland? or Dylan from the Magic Roundabout?

I love the West Country and wouldn't move if you paid me (except to cvo) but it is very annoying when the Somerset/Devon accent is always used in conjunction with comedy characters who are 'not all there'
We have a cider farm not far from us and boy do they make strong stuff, blow your head off that's for sure. Cider and Vimto used to be the drink of the day years ago with the youngsters, the older drinkers of cider would have cider and barley wine, now that would put you under the table quicker than anything!!

…….to get back on topic….Hippies…..in the late 60’s, during the summer months at least …..the west country of England was the place to be….if you couldn’t get to California………(see: Stonehenge, Glastonbury)….I remember the free festivals and hippy communes…..now those were the days……didn’t last long… :P .

 oK digger, where bouts in the West Country be you from then????????
Tis God's earth. Glastonbury always been fun, muddy, but fun. Still some 'hippy communes' but now they are called 'travellers' and no one likes them!?! One of the best free festivals was and is Sidmouth in Devon.
Can't afford Glastonbury anymore tho' now over £200 for the weekend!!!
Yep good memories  8)
Ellie, I was such a prude, never got into smoking, never tried, boring!!
And talk about things having different meanings in the States, well I truly made an ass of myself, lived in New Hampshire for 4 years when the girls were very young, we took them to a 'Chucky Cheese' restaurant, it was a themed place with singing charachters, I expect Coop knows about them, anyway, they also have games you play on and win tokens, tokens can then be exchanged for prizes ('good game, good game') hehe, well I went and asked for a notebook, pen and rubber for one of my girls, the poor lad behind the counter did not know where to put himself, then I realised what I had said and went bright red

Come on Ellie. Who are you trying to kid "didn't inhale". Next you'll be telling us you didn't have sexual relations.

My first ciggie was probably a Senior Service non tipped. Full on extra tar and the works. Now those buggers did make you cough.

Why couldn't my dad have smoked something light with a filter?

Hey, and getting back to the hippy stuff, who remembers Sobrane Black Russians and Sibrane cocktail (all different colours). Now they must be due for a relaunch.

Still whatever the brand they all bit tricky to light underwater.
