Barbeques with 'Algarve' Chimneys

We are looking to build( have built) a Barbeque with a traditional Algarve chimney . I have a link showing one at a Villa we stayed at in Vale do Miho a few years ago http://www.affinityvillas.com/villa2.cf ... rices=cat1# . It does have to be identical to this but something alond these lines would be much more preferable to the rather stark offerrings at Leroy Merlin and similar places we have scoured on the 125. Any leads please as to where we might find this type of BBQ for sale, we are over next week 11-13th and this is on our priority list.

You can buy an Algarve chimney at many of the ceramic /pottery outlets.

I think that this is just a simple case of building one yourself. The components are cheap. bricks, cement etc.

I built our BBQ in the uk and it functions just as well as the expensive , kit form version from the DIY shops.

Once we know excattly where we want our BBQ I will do the same in Portugal.

We also trawled the N125. There are cheap looking versions in Izi or Leroy Merlin, but we found ours in a place on the right just before you get to Guia. It wasnt cheap....over 300 euros. They delivered and installed on the same day.

the diy store in Lagoa ( on the 125 towards Albfeira) has a good selection, they deliver but you have to put it together and paint it yourself

i bought one of these its not just put to gether and paint , the parts are very heavy get the deliveryman to put them on top of each other built up before they go then paint

make sure before they get there the ground is level or you have leveled it

they look light i told them to leave by the road and i will take in up 1 flight of stairs it took me 3 bottles of wine and 3 days to get them upstairs

Leroy Merlins at Tavagueira Guia near Algarve Shopping also have a good selection that you maybe be able to alter to your own requirements.Or maybe build you own with some personal imagination like we did, they are not difficult.The most expensive thing was having the ash/coal tray made by a local welder.

Sorry Von, I cant, but it has several very traditional looking Algarve BBQs outside, and you can see them from the road.

I think we bought ours from the same place. It's a family business and the father and son will deliver and install in a few hours. It's on the right hand side of N125 driving to Faro, just opposite the the turning to the sand sculptures.

There are some pretty authentic looking Algarvian BBQs at Leroy merlin at Guia.
Prices from 275 up to 600

The place we bought from is between the Guia roundabout and the first slipway up into Algarve Shopping. I looked as we went past yesterday, and they still have them.

Thanks to all( especially the great Bruce W) who have responded to my enquiry and will be making a concerted effort later this week if i survive the Monarch flight on Thursday morning. I will let you know if my expectations are realised.

Returned this pm and the place with the best 'authentic' chimneys is just down the hill from Leroy M, next door to the Vedamisto Fencing place which is where Bruce W went. The place Widge describes is different with not such a great selection although they are all fairly similar either a brick finish or ' pebbledash' with some fairly bad cement profiles on some which look cheap and nasty but still all seem to cost something north of Euro 600 !

Are you serious re security at the airport 75 mins !!!!!!!!!!? what caused it then, as their are not many tourists around at this time of year, only golfers. Seems hard to believe.
