Volume garbage collection

Post by Globetrotter »

February 25th is the next scheduled day for the recolha de lixos vlolumosos. From what I can gather, we are allowed to throw out large quantities on this day. We place them next to the bins the evening before. Are there any restrictions on what can be placed? Old mattresses ok? What about garden waste?

Thanks in advance!

You're welcome. If you miss it, the next one is on March 3. There is a schedule on Lagoa's Camara website.

I am not sure that garden refuse is a type they will be collecting as the system is designed to collect bulky items like furniture and defunct appliances.

Garden and construction refuse normally go their separate way in individual containers and it is against the law to dump them next to communal garbage collection points.
The only reason that you see so much garden refuse being dumped by the bins is because the cost for removal (container rent, transport, dumping fees) have become so high.
