Departures and Meet=ups

Post by Michael Crane »

On the Turkey site that I spend my time there's a Departures and Meet-ups topic. Why not do the same here?

Departures: Easy, just list the person, date, how long and airport.

Meet-ups: This takes a bit of organising by someone already in Carvoeiro. Check the Departures topic and work out the best date to meet up and a bar to do it in.

Any of our 'residents' want to do this?

I am sure Steen can easily add another bit to the topic lists. :D

Do you have a link to the Turkey site so I can see how it's done?
(we do have the "events" forum; viewforum.php?f=24 )

Supposedly the "Events" section is for that purpose, people organize meet-ups with the help of the moderators for coordination.

I dont mind reserving a table in a bar or restauurant for these events.

Steen, look here: http://www.hisaronu.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi

You will have to become a member to get on the forum. They won't bombard you with spam. Eddie, the 'owner' is a nice chap and won't allow any naughty things on his site. A Chair would soon be turfed off!

I didn't realise the Events did something like this already.

My proposal goes a little further and, if we adopt the Turkish format, it'd be easier to find out who's going when and from where; and when and where the Meet-ups are.

It's just a suggestion. :D

But Mr G... there's a blocker been put on the Events section so we have not been able to register our interest in the event scheduled for end May at Anteak Bar!

:) (ps I expect there will be three of us if you're counting.)

:?: Perhaps an interactive calendar would work, where forum members can post their arrival / departure dates??

Sandy,
I had blocked the 31st May topic because I was loosing track of who wanted to come, etc - the thread got so long it was turning into a bad day in Bosnia. I would rather anybody who is interested send me a PM and I make the changes on the first post where everyone can find it.
