Cost to treat a marble floor?
HI there,
Does anyone know the approximate cost to treat a marble floor, protecting it against stains? We have about 80 square meters.
Thanks.

Re: Cost to treat a marble floor?
It all depends what needs doing. I have a molianos stone floor - big mistake in hindsight, expensive and looks good but stains are a nightmare. This year I had to have large areas retreated with a vitrification process and a small area repolished (ie 1 or 2 milimetres ground off to give a new surface) I obtained a good deal at about €6 per square metre for the vitrification and €19 a metre for the repolish and vitrification.
I would think that a normal cost would be about €8 to €10 a metre for vitrification or crystalisation. This will give a good finish if the surface is not too scratched. Repolishing restores the surface as new but is pricey - although cheaper of course than a new floor.

I only need a treatment to protect it, basically a sealant. It is a brand new floor. Creme Marfil.

You can buy a matt finish or shiny finish floor sealant from CIN in Lagoa opposite the Fatasil, they will recommend the right stuff for you and how to apply it.

Vitrification does seal the surface and protects against stains but if you are looking for DIY sealant there is a shop round the corner from CIN at Fatacil which sells an Italian range of products which include a matt and gloss sealer. They also sell a good stain remover. The shop is next to the Chiropractor near Elite Kitchens and Sovereign
