Favas
Favas
Broad beans (favas) are plentiful this time of year. They are young, succulent and truly delicious. They can be easily found - at a good price - in markets throughout Portugal. Try this simple supper dish (based on a tradition recipe):
Pod your beans/sweat onion garlic and chopped streaky bacon in a liberal amount of olive oil/then add a splash of water and the beans, pinch of salt & lots of fresh coriander leaves/simmer/serve with a little boiled rice (optional).
