the new airport buildings is nearly finished at beja it believe its only 1 hour to porches by road anyone confirm that ?

as its only 15 mins longer than faro and if flights are cheaper it will be worthwhile
any way it will give some competion and may bring flight costs down

The airport has already been opened. Ryan Air has already shown an interest in flying to Beja airport.

Given the current economic climate and the cut backs by both EJ and Ryan air it may be a long time before we see regular flights.

Ryan will want to be paid to use it and once this stops they have a reputation for walking away, eg , Malmo and many of the smaller french cities.

Beja is about 2h to the central Algarve via toll road because it is a fair way away from the A2 north/south motorway.
