EURO 2004

Post by danny boy »

I am not sure how many football fans are on the forum but being a forum of members and guests from many continents i would very much value everyones input into who you think will win euro 2004 and why?, I myself really fancy portugal and this has nothing to do with the forum i am posting on, i am a football fan and think portugal have been knocking on the door of sucsess for a few years now, home advantage, a little luck and consistancy are only around the corner. What do you think folks?

Good choice - Portugal have under-performed since the days of Eusebio (remember him)? The French players at Arsenal have taken football to a different level - probably the best club side this country has seen. (I say that as a very long term Man United fan), so provided that they don't suffer from 'burn out' I would stake a few Euros on France.

Big pity that Wales aren't there - always the bridesmaid & never the bride! England - don't fancy them at all. Sven still doesn't seem to know who are his best 11 players are and if David (Calamity) James is the answer then it must have been a stupid question.

Just hope the tournament is played in the right spirit and the yob element stay away!

Regards to all in CVO from a very warm & sunny Wales.

Though I know very little about football..I had to respond to Croesos remarks on the great "Eusebio"!
As a teenager..hub saw this wonderful player in action in the '66 World Cup..and I do recall seeing him a few times on TV..and as you say..you just wish for fair clean..enjoyable play..the way he perfomed! :)
When I was in Lisbon..I was given a copy of the spring/summer magazine Step by Step 'Lisboa' and the first three pages are all about 'Eusebio'..or as they called him 'The Black Panther' (a plane has been called this.in his honour)..and there are details of him from his birth in Mozambique to the present day. Maybe you can get a copy..if youre going to Portugal for the games?
Id like to see Portugal do well..and England of course...but will it match the excitement of the Rugby World Cup? :)

Thanks for your replys folks. The great Eusebio, he was fantastic in his day not sure if he would live with todays game, what about Figo this will prob be his last chance to shine in the big comp. Not sure about France they realy floped in the last world cup to many mega stars for me, but hey they did it before, what do i know? As for England i agree with Croeso sven seems a little confused  and yes lets hope the thugs dont ruin what should be very good for portugal and the world of football.

ps: biffa great idea about the poll im going to work on it
