I hope G and Kteee wont mind my putting this topic here on forum.
But I met up with some lovely folk in Lagoa and I promised Id put in a word for them as they start a new business in Lagoa!
I met 'Luis Mora', along with his friend Jaoquim while taking lunch in the park's cafe. They became interested in Carvoeiro.com..which I readily told them about.
They both spoke perfect English..and I was astonished to learn that Luis had spent 30 years in the London Met policeforce and he knew more of the place than myself!
Anyway...he and his wife are starting Tabern 31 in May...its undergoing refurbishment..and opening day is ' May 3rd' !
There wil be good selection of food..beer ..wines..etc..and theres to be an English-style beer garden..very suitable for young families.
Id like to take this opportunity to wish them every success with their new venture.....Boa sorte Luis ! :)

Good news Ellie.

There is room for a decent bar in Lagoa. If they open another pastelaria I will go nuts!

There is a large body of professional people in Lagoa, lawyers, accountants etc and a good bar with some nice snacks could be a nice meeting place for lunchtime or a post work jar. Rua Mouzinho Albuquerque is the road running from the "elephant" car wash towards the banking area of town. Rest. Casa Velha is in it.

Hi Ellie, sounds like it might be worth a visit - we are going over on 7th May, so we will have a look.

Youre so right Biffa.....what isn't needed..yet another pastelaria!
I do wonder how they all make a living ?
I did pop into Maria's ..next to Chinese restaurant..a couple of times..and there was never more than a couple of customers :(
I do wish Luis and his family success..do you think it stands a good chance...where its situated? He also told me..theyre working hard in preparing a good and varied menu. I told them and friends about this site..so I hope they take a look here :)
I also visited the 'Classique 21' bar near the park for the first time...and enjoyed nice drink and snack..people friendly too.
Hope you get to visit Taberna 31 Dave! ..hope you and Hazel have good time 'init'! :)
P.S I met a fella at the airport..and all he kept saying was "Aint it' !!!
