Know the best place for a pickpocket to operate?....under a "beware of pickpockets" sign....soon as most of us see it we feel for our wallet......bingo thats the pocket to pick.

I was going to say...I think Ill make sure I have 'zips' on everything next time!..but even these ..it seems..are no absolute security!
How about a 'body belt'.would you say thats a safer bet??
SHOWWWY..Im sure there are..'no spaces' between Gerry and his Geri :) :)

Forgot to say Gerry....if you ever want to book bus/hotels etc for Lisbon...go to 'Galtur' shop in rua pescadores(not sure of spelling) in Carvoeiro.
The ladies in there were very helpful..and Vera..the young girl booked the bus for us..and helped me pick a hotel that was reasonable price..and one where we had excellent 'help yourself' breakfast.
It was also pretty central (the hotel Zurique)...average taxi ride ..5 euros..to most sights. All in all good value......Ellie
P.S. going up and down the 'tower of Belem' was a real test of the knees..but we did it ok...and saw fabulous views from the top! :)

 Hello Ellie, I am also very sad that you had such an experience in Lisbon, have been there twice with other half and had a wonderful time, except when you try and drive out on the right road to get to the Algarve, we got lost and ended up going through the centre of the city, took ages.
As everyone says, you have to put it down to experience and try and do everything you can to stop it ever happening again, glad you had a friend with you though.
My daughter and I have just come back from our house just outside cvo, had a great four days buying thigs to make it more 'homely' weather was not so good the first two days, then the sun came out and all was well again.
Hope you had a great time in cvo.
Take care

Sun Prayer By Sylvia

Post by SHOWWWY »

Luminary Spirit
Bestow your rays
Of Light onto thyself

Illuminate my face
With your radiance

Nurture my crying
Heart with your brightness

Bronze my lifeless
Body with your coloring majik

Arouse my sleeping
Passion with your seductive heat

Penetrate my wondering
Soul with your Majestic being …

Give Lesley
Shining rays of love...

And deliver me from
All that is dark and painful

For you are the
Kingdom of my existence

Oh mighty sun
I bow to thee

Hi there SHOWWWY!
Yes ..everything was great saturday..weather stayed dry for us and even brightened a little as we made our way to church. It was 5pm service and I may have imagined it..but the sun seemed to shine through the beautiful stained glass windows :)
I gave Lesley your poem along with a gold lucky horshoe..and she sent a special thanks to you for thinking of her.
They are now honeymooning in Turkey..beautiful weather..unlike here in London(and elsewhere in Uk) where its been 'teeming' down!
Hows it doing in Canada ? :)

A helping hand

Hi Ellie,

Just got the opportunity to read your forum.

Regarding the trip to Lisbon, I enjoyed it a lot despite the fact that your purse was stolen. Friday (day of robbery) was a disaster, but the Saturday and Sunday went well. We did do a lot of sight seeing and had fun.

It is a pity we did not get support or help from the local GNR though, despite by best effort to speak to them in Portuguese. They did not seem interested in helping us.

But I hope that the experience of that week-end will not damper your enthusiasm to pay Lisbon another visit when you return to Portugal.

Keep well and hope to see you soon,

Blushing Blond
