A Fonte, Carvoeiro
Re: A Fonte, Carvoeiro
We tried A Fonte a couple of weeks ago and can't agree with the previous posts, unfortunately. We arrived and were 'greeted' by a very moody woman with dyed blonde hair and teeth. We weren't offered an aperitif. She then reluctantly came to take our order. My wife went first and as she was ordering, the waitress started sighing and rolling her eyes. I asked the lady if there was a problem and she stared blankly at me and shook her head. I wanted to get up and walk out then but other members of our party who hadn't noticed the attitude, insisted we stayed. After that I couldn't relax and that ruined the night for me. I must admit the food was ok but the service didn't get any better and the whole experience was quite tense. Never again.

She doesn't ooze friendliness but has always been pleasant and returned a smile with a smile.

Re: A Fonte, Carvoeiro
We own the Restaurante A Fonte... and like you we received a lot of complainings about her...and she was fired soon as we could (the laws are a mess in portugal and it is very difficult to fire somebody without any problems) we know that time goes by and never comes again, but we like to ask your apology. know we are having trouble in finding new staff. i'm sorry about my english writing....dj soul wrote:We tried A Fonte a couple of weeks ago and can't agree with the previous posts, unfortunately. Fonte, it's good to see a proprietor come on and reply to a negative post. Well done. I am pleased to see you have addressed the problem and I hope that in the future reports from diners will be more positive.
Re: A Fonte, Carvoeiro
We had 2 seperate meals in A Fonte in May:
- Chicken Piri Piri best in the village by along way
- Calamari kebabs the biggest and best by far
- Lamb chops, 8 on one plate, mega
- Chicken in mushroom sauce, what can I say, brilliant.
Back in July, August, September and October and will have at least 2 nights on each occassion at A Fonte. Try it out, we were bowled over by quantity and quality.

It is fast becoming one of our favourites for Chicken Piri Piri
I also asked the owner what the little shop in the middle of the stairs was,
she said it was the original A Fonte and now they kept it open for the locals
who liked to sit outside and drink coffee. She said they were too attached to it to let it go
how nice

Me and my family also like A Fonte. Did you manage the Piri Piri sauce tricky? Blew my head off and I like spicy food
