Yeah, but Round Up is enjoyable. You're right it's not cheap. But by midnight i'm not bothered and if i've been in Happy's for 2 hours before i've had great value food and booze!
I could go on about CVO's bars calling 0.4L glass of beer "large", but i won't! Actually, Portugal does 'fall down' compared to Spain and Greece for it's miserly drink measures. I mean you don't get 'Spanish "say when" measures' in Portugal, do you?! Still that would be unfair.

We've visited CVO for 8 years now and the whole place makes us feel good, and that makes it a necessity for our year.

Plus, we've found our cheaper, but still chilled out place in the Med....San Stefanos in Corfu. Similar atmos to CVO, but cheaper. Both compliment each other for our annual hols.

We first went to Portugal over 25 years ago, it was not " cheap " then compared tp Spain, Greece or Turkey and fortunately has not gone down the populist path that these countries have. ( just look at the chronic over development, anti social behaviour etc ).

If you want to catergorise it as " middle class " thats fine.

As a generalisation Portugal does not atract those in search of " cheap drink and nightlife ".

If we have to pay a bit more to avoid this then thats Ok by me.

Absolutely EMM....and that's fine by us. There's just enough good entertainment in CVO, sometimes lively, but always good natured to keep us happy. And the 'middle class feel' does make it seem less threatening than many other holiday places.

We really enjoy the Dutch influence in CVO (they're great co. in the evening), as well the local portuguese.

Which San Stefanos East or West coast or should I say the one with or without Costas(local restaurateur who has a habit of way laying you before you get to any other establishment) either way their both exspensive.

PT - we stayed in San Stef on North West side of Corfu and it's NOT expensive whatsoever. Spent as much in CVO in 11 days/11 nights a couple of weeks ago as we did in 14 days/14 nights in San Stef and we ate out every single lunchtime in San Stef.

Been coming to CVO for much longer though and despite my one and only gripe about the supermarket prices everything else in CVO is ab fab!

Bristle I stopped San Stef east coast ,and 7yrs ago a pint then was €2.75 any way losing the thread here will probaly make my final comments on CVO and the changes that have taken place so far this year when I make my last visit later this month

Yes, i've heard from San Stef (north west) regulars that the other San Stef on N.E. side of Corfu is very expensive. It's the haunt of the rich and famous these days! And i'm neither!

Back to CVO - i'm sure you'll enjoy your stay; we did the other week and will be back for our 10th visit next September.

I couldnt agree more!! We came to Portugal for all the above reasons.
If that makes us, and our friends middleclass and a bit snobby.....thats fine by me!!
