New Development Mato Serrao

Hi, My wife and I own a villa opposite the entrance to the new Hibiscus gardens development in Mato Serrao and was wondering what the new development is that has just started on the waste ground, I cant seem to find any info from the Camara, perhaps i am looking in the wrong area, as usual it seems that we have been kept in the dark by the camara and as a result my clients in the villa are having to put up with dust and debris noise etc, any help would be appreciated.

There should be a notice giving details of the liscence no, who it was granted to etc.
But inevitably if you live in an urbanisation ( its not waste ground ) vacant plots will be developed at some time and we all just have to live with it.
When we bought our plot, part of the official paperwork was a map of the area showing where devlopment was planned and what could be built there and we are only a few 100 mtrs inland from you.

There has been a lot of land clearing being done as the council clamps down on owners who have not maintaned the anti fire regulations and let the scrub grow up or let the land become a dumping ground.

Lasts month for two days we had to endure diggers and trucks causing a lot of noise and dust as they did this on a neighbouring plot.

You raise an interesting point regarding the requirement for land owners to clear their property of tress etc to prevent fire. Where can I get more information regarding this?

Our property has a first class sea view and has a lot of greenery between us and the sea but we are bordered by a piece of land of some considerable size (in excess of 100,000m2) that has been left to 'do its own thing'. For the most part it is not a problem but recently our gardener mentioned to me the potential hazard should it catch fire. He went in there and cut a lot of it back (there's very seldom anybody there) but your comment has got me thinking - as there is a lot of wood and grass that would make one hell of a blaze.

Can anybody shed any light on that

Land owners are legally bound to ensure that there is minimal fire risk from thir land to adjoining property.
Scrub . dry grass etc should be cleared every year.
One neighbour ploughs a firebreak between each summer.

To the other side Portuguese neighbours went to the camara in Lagoa rasied an official complaint and the land between us has been cleared.

The bill has been sent to the absentee landowners.

That's very helpful - that will be top of my 'To-Do' list when I get back next week. It that lot was to go - it would not be 'pretty sight'.

These issues are normally dealt with by SEPNA (Serviço de Protecção da Natureza e do Ambiente) which is a branch of the GNR

Hi all, it seems my property management have misinformed me there are no building works and it looks like the land owner was clearing up.
