New Development

Post by Elaine »

Can anyone give me information on the development at Colina do Carvoeiro near the Carvoeiro tennis club. The name of the site is Angrinha Heights and appears to be a complex of five blocks of apartments/town houses and one very large building with a carpark underneath.

Yes Michael "THAT" is the development I refer to. The strange thing about it is the large building with the carpark underneath. Is that a reception or an aparthotel or a small hotel, or what. Why the carpark when each apartment in the other five blocks are said to have a car parking space. The underground carpark has raised the building higher than the other blocks. Seems a mystery to me. By the way, the original planning permission had been granted for 8 luxury villas in large plots. Quite a difference!

Elaine, there are two possible locations that I can think of and the link does not provide detail on the exact location. Can you be more precise with the location? Then I can provide you with some comments.

Globetrotter - To reach the entrance to the site you would turn left, (coming from the village up towards Sesmarias), at the new roundabout before the watertower, and first left again down a cul de sac - Colina do Carvoiro. This is before you reach the Carvoeiro Tennis Club. I think Michael has the right development but it does not specify what the larger of the 6 blocks is.

Elaine, I have only heard a rumour to two. The last I heard is that the developer ran out of money. I went by the development yesterday and there does not appear to be any work activity on the site. If he has run out of money, it is unfortunate as I think it would have been much better suited to a group of villas. The current structure has ruined the property values of the villas around it and I am afraid we will have to look at an unfinished structure for sometime. Do you have any better information?

I was over in June and there was great activity on the site. I was also there the second week of August and there were roofers finishing off on one block. The difference between June and August was quite noticeable so plenty of work had gone on in July. Perhaps this week is a holiday week as I understand the building trade in Portugal take August as their holiday. I am out again in October so we will maybe see a difference. The Aviso sign says they are to be completed by early 2011!! Let me know if you can find anything out about the largest building with the carpark underground please.
