There are plenty of banks and ATMS (cash machines) in Carvoeiro.
Suggest you look under "Money Matters" in "FAQ2 - everything you need to know is there!

Just be aware of the money limits that operate from Portuguese ATMs. Maximum 200 euros per transaction. Bit of a pain to be honest.chevaux wrote:Hello everybody

OK you could go back and carry out another transaction within minutes, but then you'll get charged twice.

Not if you run the card twice, my limit is £300 per day and can draw exactly that unless I ring for an uplift. Normally do the 200 euro and then another 100.

Oh. I'll check with my bank on that one. So you're saying that if you use it twice within mins you only get charged once by the bank?Mike,Chislehurst wrote:Not if you run the card twice, my limit is £300 per day and can draw exactly that unless I ring for an uplift. Many many thanks to all of you
. This forum is a great one, each question gets an answer almost immediately
(Being belgian it seems I won't have the same problems with the cash limit, the members of the european community appears to have no charges when doing transactions at cashmachines)
Anyway, I'll be there this saturday and perhaps will see some of you.. hope so..

Re: banks in Carvoeiro + cash terminals
Bristle si, I bank with Nationwide so don't get charged at all. I would imagine though if you normally get charged per transaction, then it would count as two transactions
Re: banks in Carvoeiro + cash terminals
I am a nationwide person overseas as well. However, if you do two transactions with a "normal" card then you will be charged twice (as it is two transactions ...)

Always use the flex account debit card for cash and no charges.

Just a thought and never tried it myself but suppose you pay for your meal with a debit card and then ask for cash back. Works a treat in the UK as it removes cash from the premises. That would reduce transaction charges. Anyone done this?
