I'm still about.

I went on a cruise for our 2nd (8th) wedding anniversary in late February.

Then I returned to organise and run the Scottish Open backgammon championships, after which I had to edit, contribute, format, print and distribute my backgammon magazine, Bibafax, to members world-wide . . .

. . . and I've just finished a 2,000 odd word piece on the Turkey forum about my first ever trip to Turkey . . .

. . . and now I'm back to my quiet life until the final preparations and organisation and running of the British Open backgammon championships in early April.

In short - I've been busy

Hiya Gerry!
we have long term plans..possibly to put into place next year.....of buying little something CVO/ Lagoa area..would like a small Portuguese house.
Getting this place valued in summer..see what can be raised......reading all Lesley Jeans posts has stimulated me and encouraged me.
The way we're going..there'll soon be a really thriving community out there made up of 'forum members'

It wasn't me! I whish I could play it! Have been watching it several times in the Carvoeiro Bar during the times I'm in CVO, where Hans (the owner) plays it regularly (every afternoon) with an english resident (forgot his name) The only problem is: I have watched it a lot, but the next time (next day) I'm watching it again, I can't remember how the game goes! (and I'm not even blonde) Must be lack of intelligence!

What do you mean Peter .."and Im not even blonde!"?

Well I am..and Im very good at....not being able to play chess...backgammon...poker....etc
but know how to handle a spade..Im a good digger....but that don't take too much thinking

Wonder how Digger & Gerry fared with the backgammon though?

Me? not very well, I'm afraid. I dont like computer games (or should I say games played on a computer). I must get myself a backgammon board and have another look at it. There's an interesting into/history of the game on the CD

anyway its because i'm so ashamed of my true location

but here's a good thing... spending Easter week in Lincolnshire - can you recommend good restaurants/walks/pubs etc etc, Ellie? I know its not PdC (I hate that CVO thing) but i've always had a yearning to go there - you can take the girl out of east anglia but you can't take east anglia out of the girl! (oh NO!! I've said too much!)

First of all 2nd darling....I owe you a big apology (I really must change my reading glasses)...you are already a MEMBER!....sorry about that (hanging head in shame)

Lincolnshire is a big county..which part you coming to may I ask?
Boston has very good selection of restaurants..all sorts...a good Indian one(havent used it myself but recommended) called 'Moon Under The Water'. From the pedestrianised high street..you go over the bridge and bear round to the left.
Theres Lincoln of course(here you have massive cathedral&castle that has original 'Magna Carta)..very good shopping & plenty of eateries..and its nice along the river side(this is the Witham that runs through the centre).
Louth is nice town too with plenty of shops.
We live near Spilsby which is the beginning of the Wolds..and if you take the road from there to Horncastle its a lovely piece of countryside.Along this way you will see the sign for Snipedales..a nature park..there are 2 sides..one is wooded with nice walks...the other is rolling countryside.
Plenty of nice pubs everywhere.
I wont be here for Easter...be in CVO...but I wish you a lovely time & that weather is good!

Oh nearly forgot..theres 'Hubbard Hills' just outside Louth..another good place to walk!..hope this helps.....ellie
