Eating and Parking

Post by slingsby »

Hi Folks,
Ten of us are staying in a villa near Carvoeiro from monday.6 adults,3 children and a baby.Any tips on child friendly restaurants would be appreciated.
Also, the parking situation does not seem good.Where do we park(3 cars) to get to the square.Somebody mentioned a park and ride.Directions would be good.
Really looking forward to visiting Carvoeiro,we visited for the day last year while staying in Lagos and thought we would give it a go.
Thanks in advance.

Hi slingsby, and welcome to the forum. Where is your villa? Eastside? Westside?

If you are close to Monte Carvoeiro the parking is easy plus a good selection of places to eat.

Otherwise parking can be found around Algar seco although probably not as easy as past years.

If you are near Colina Village, just follow the road to the top of restaurant hill and you will find the Park & Ride. It operates every 15 minutes from 6.00pm to 11.30pm and will drop you outside the Carvoeiro Sol.

The park and ride closes sometime during the evening (not sure of the time). There is often a reasonable amount of parking around there anyway and it is only 8-10 minutes walk to the beach from the car park. Plus there are some of the best restaurants right there anyway!

 I really do not think you could have better value for money than at Phoenix Nites , in Monte Carvoeiro, and it is child friendly in a very safe,no through road area,€10-99, three course meal with a bottle of wine!!!

Thanks folks for all the information. We are packing now(well the wife is) ready for tomorrow. We are flying from Leeds and arrive late evening so the exploring starts tuesday.
If you see a middle aged bloke possibly wearing a Leeds United shirt with 9 of his family in tow,say hello, its nice to put a face to names.

Park and ride? Is that a high-season-only thing? Where is the parking? At the beginning of June, I did see a bit of work going on in an empty lot just next to Vimar restaurant. Is that it? Good idea, wherever it is.

Friends ( 3 generations ) have just returned and followed our advice and parked either at Algar Seco or Monte Carvoeiro depending on which part of town they were eating that night.
They did not have any problems even though they had a mini bus.
They ate out 12 of 14 nights making return visits to Tasco and the Indian restaraunt ( sorry don,t know the name ) at that end of town.
They needed to make reservations at Eliotts and Ela and Ela and the Indian restaraunt ( it had a queue waiting for tables )
In their opinion the best for content ,value and ambience was Tasco.
One of the party being a celieac they had concerns but found that wherever they went gluten free dishes could be provided .
Their average spend was just over 20euros/person/night. plus desert whch was an ice cream during their after dinner amble, They are do not drink a lot of alcohol.

They were really impressed with Carvoeiro even found the square amusing, particularly one night when a car parked outside of the CVO sol and blocked all traffic movement for over 10 mins until the occupants could be found and made to move ( English unfortunately )
