Bilbao to Faro

Hi new villa nearly finished and ferry booked to Bilbao in August...arriving 0800 on the Frday 15th. Will do the journey through Spain/ portugal in one hop( with a few swigs of Red Bull to asssit). Big question is the journey home Ferry Sat 29th August @ 13.15 ( with booking in by 12.00) do you advise leaving in the middle of the night or find hotel near Burgos or similar. I imagine it will be a very busy on the roads being the end of august.....suggestions please ?

We do the journey each year we usually we drive down in one.On the return we stay at Salamanca at the Ibis which is in the centre an easy walk to the Platza Mayor the hotel has secure parking.The time to the ferry the from hotel is approx 4 hrs.Salamanca is a loverly city if you wanted more time there a further night at the Ibis at Barakaldo { about 15 mins from ferry } is an option.

When we drove back to UK via Bilbao, they cancelled the ferry and we had to drive all the way back through France. What a nightmare!! Make sure the ferry company has your correct mobile number before you travel!!
