Colina da Lapa Apartments

Post by Joe_Fox »

Hello,

Long time viewer (well, a week or so), first time poster and all that.

I'm after some information from you learned people about the Colina da Lapa Apartments and about Carvoeiro in general. Hopefully someone will be able to offer me advice and answer my questions.

Ok, here goes:

1. How much would a taxi be from Carvoeiro back to Colina da Lapa Apartments? I've heard that it's about 3km so in the evenings I'd probably walk in and get a taxi back.

2. Is there two separete parts of the Colina da Lapa complex? I've read reports on the villas but the holiday I may book is for the apartments. Can someone explain the set up?

3. What's the weather like in the first two weeks of September? I've heard that the pools are not heated in Portugal but do enjoy swimming but not in a freezing pool!

4. How busy is Carvoeiro in the same time period (i.e. first two weeks of September)? I'm not after a clubbers paradise or anything but do enjoy having a bit of a dance and drinking into the wee hours.

I think that's about it for now so I look forward to your responses.

Many thanks,
Joe_Fox

Hi there,
Taxi would be cheap and the 3 kms sounds about right. The whole resort looks like villas but some are larger and some are smaller. I would classify them all as apartments or units in a villa. Early Sept. is gorgeous and the pools will be fine at probably around 23 degrees.
Enjoy.

We stay at Colina da Lapa and there are duplex - 2 story villas (2 bedrooms) and 1 bedroom apartments that seem to involve alot of stairs (if that is a problem) They are very well appointed, clean, fireplaces with enclosures, patios, public pool, great views of Portimao bridge, and great staff. I'm sure you wuld enjoy, we always rent a car so have no idea of taxi prices.

We went last year in September.

Loved it and are coming back this year but in August.

Apartments we stayed in, clean, large, well equiped. For price and rating, beat anything in other sun places such as Canaries etc where we have been before.

We used taxis before, but would recomend a car but it seems not a chance of getting one this year! Although you may do better in September getting one.

The pool is totally freezing when we went in September though. My son did not mind he was in it all the time but I could only stand it a few times.
