Limited access to Carvoeiro centre

Aside from said spaniard it may have slipped your mind that there are a vast number of people WORKING in Carvoeiro who have to get through town somehow and are now FORCED to drive through the square because the Monte Dourado passage has been reversed.
Chances are these workers are also somehow involved in making your holiday go off without a hitch, so be nice and get out of the effin way if you want your bagels delivered/pool cleaned/toilet uncloged/tv working.

If they drive responsibly taking care to avoid pedestrians there there will not be any problems.
Car vs human , human always comes off worse.

Without tourists they would not have a job !!

Aw come on! It is like driving through a funnel at the moment and even with sidewalks twice as wide, people still manage to drift on to the little bit of road left.

Still, I blame the design - the pedestrian crossings are almost invisible and with so many vertical objects, the driver's eye has a hard time processing all the information. For example, nobody saw that they made the sidewalk infront of Happy's/Round-up/California strictly no parking and the cars were all lined up as ususal.

I am next to the Mirachor hotel. How do I get to the Villa Nova please? I used to drive into town go up the hill by Monte Carvoeiro and then drive until I saw the Villa Nova sign. I have absolutely no idea how to get there now!

You'll come down Restaurant Hill, into the Out Road, turn left through the cut through, left onto the In Road, and immediately right where the Post Office used to be.

Then go straight up past Jailhouse, and keep going straight at the next junction until you reach Rua Paraiso, which is the road from Monte Carvoeiro to Vila Nova. Turn right, and you should know where you are.

Ref Parking outside of Happys, Roundup etc , the main culprits are the owners and staff from these places.

It depends, the other night you could not there was a sign stating that access was prohibited to through traffic from 6,00pm until midnight.
When there is a group playing the outroad is also closed for the night.

OK - if anyone sees a frazzled, middle aged woman driving the wrong way around Cvo next week, with her son and mother trying to give directions, please take pity on me and point me towards Villa Nova.

I have been reading with interest the comments on the square, having been there many times I hope it does not spoil the atmosphere. Here I need help, I have rented a villa just past the excellent fish resturant at the top of the hill to the right coming in to the town. Has access been blocked for cars to go up the hill or can you still use it,

Just to let you know that there appeared to be no restrictions in driving up and down restaurant hill, and I found Villa Nova no problem at all. Had a delicious meal there, as always. Thanks for all your help.

btw - no one has mentioned the new free park and ride car park at the top of restaurant hill next to the Vimar restaurant. There is parking for around 100 or so cars and a little bus that runs people up and down the hill. I think it is just there until the car park at the market is built.

When you drive down resturant hill in front of you is a blue road sign with
arrowa, one directs you to the right onto the out road but the other arrow
points straight forward, but you then have nowhere to go other than to join
the traffic coming into the village on the in road and so on. Whether the sign
is still there but it certainly was like that when we left at the end of June. My
husband is a retired Civil Engineer, Highways, and he says it just doesn`t make
sense.

Yes, I also saw that sign and wondered, but the mistake your husband is making is that with his background he assumed that the layout went through a formal planning process with reviews and consultation.

Whereas, this is what happened in reality:

The Mayor decided he wanted a larger pedestrian area, so he called in some blokes to dig up the car park and the main square.
Then the building contractors came along, saw a mess in the square, went and sat on the bar stools outside Sullys and had a few beers. Called up a few more blokes, gave them shovels and told them to dig.
The bosses then moved a few yards along and sat outside Irish Times, had a few beers and saw some cars pass by, so they called up a few more blokes and told them to dig a wider pavement.
They then went around the corner to Smilers for a few beers and had a different view of the works, so called back the first lot of blokes and gave them a variety of paving materials and told them to dump these over the holes that they originally dug.
A little while later, they stopped off at Imprevisto and had a few beers, couldn't work out who was doing what, so they decided to have a meeting.

They then went next door to have a meeting at Hemingways, had a few beers, and thought: lets have a traffic flow system.

But by then, they had had too many beers !
