Barranco Longo

This is a small local vineyard near Algoz, I read somewhere that they do tours and wine tasting,does anyone know where ths is or have any contact details for them?

I don't actually know about this vineyard, but if you are interested in vineyard tours generally, you can visit Adega do Cantor - owned by Cliff Richard, where they produce his Vida Nova wine. We did it the other year and found it very interesting (and - in case you should be wondering it is not because I am a big fan of CR!). You need to prebook, though when we went (in October) we hadn't realised this and they were able to fit us in an hour later. Look at the website if you're interested:

Barranco Longo is a bit hidden away! You take the Algoz-tunes road and turn left just by the tea rooms called something like grandmas tea room (Av^) or similar. Follow windy road a fair way and it is on the left where here is the very high wall of the adega itself. Very nice bloke called Rui Virgina runs the place and some very nice wine. Thanks alot,we did go looking when we were there a few weeks ago,took a turning with a sign of the same name,maybe there is also an area called Barranco Longo,we had no luck, thanks for the details and we will try again when we are out in August

There is an area called Barranco Longo, it's off the Algoz - Messines road first left after the sign/turning on the right for Krazy World. This is where we have been looking for the vineyard, silly us! Thinking it might be in the area called Barranco Longo. I know the Avo's tea room & museum so now I know where to look, I love the wine.

I am curious about the Avo tea room/museum, as we are always looking for different places to take our elderly parents when we come out with them in October, especially places that have easy access. Do you have any more information about Avos blue or propertydoctor?

I have passed it a hundred times but I'm sorry to say I've never been in. The Grandmother runs the tearoom & bakes her own cakes & the Grandfather runs the museum which I've heard referred to as the cart museum but I think it's all about traditional country life in the Algarve. I read an article last year about the Grandmother winning an international competition for her baking. This year I am determined to visit them. If you go before I do let us know what you think.

Is this the vineyard where the building they make the wine is bright orange? If so, the wine is superb -especially the Rose!!!mmmmmmm
